Forge World Additions

Good Afternoon Fellow Gamers,

I wanted to take anopporutnity to bend your ear regarding some forge world accessories to my Dark Angels (Unforgiven) forces.

Looking at the Contemptor dreadnought, I think it has a lot of potential. Especially as a venerable Deathwing Dreadnought (I know I am not treading any new ground here). Hopefully be able to use it as a Venerable OR a contemptor depending on which ruleset my opponents will allow.

Another option was for a squadron of the Land Speeder Tempests. I think they would fit in rather well with the ravenwing. Plus, I think they would look quite impressive with a sleek black paintjob and some bone white accents.

Rounding out the options includes the Damocles command rhino. Conceptually it's cool, but I am not sure if I am sold on its rules.

What are your opinions? And why?

In 40k things go backwards... The oldest something is the more progressive it is and the more high tech it is. Given that DAs have supposedly some sort of technological edge I think it's definetelty OK for you to include relics such as the Contemptor. Personally I love the model and took two for my Consecrators as they are supposed to be extra big with relics (see link in my signature) but it will look perfectly at home for DAs too.

Of course Tempests fit with RW. It will look perectly at home with the rest of the force. Just do it! :) And yes it will look great in back!

Damocles looks the part for sure! It just seems like a bit of a luxury to me (money cost aside) as the effort to build it will probably not translate to table top usage. If you are interested to get it for display purposes then by all means go for it - it has a lot of presence!

~shrug~

I have the DA vennie from FW, the older (no longer on offer, it's a bit squat) generic vennie from FW, and the FW drop pod in my collection...and FW doors for one of my land raiders...the DP gets the most comments....at least until (it's not FW, of course) the terminus ultra on my painting table hits the gaming table...it's gonna be AWESOME!!!!

I can only speak of the Damocles Command Rhino because I have one and I use it.

Though I will say I only use it in Apoc games to support my DW. Deep Strike re-rolls and a one time Apoc Orbital strike are nothing to sneeze at.

Is that parts of the Repressor kit in there as well? It looks really impressive!

I'd say, if you're planning some Apoc games then go for it.

I've bought some FW stuff myself and plan on getting three Contemptor-Mortis'. Along with my other 'extravagant' purchases they probably won't see much use unless I join the local club, but what the hell. All you can do is keep adding things, right? ;)

All I have to do now is convince my regular opponent that it's ok for the DA to use a Stormblade! :D

I've been considering using the Tempests myself, they just look too damn cool. My friend has both the Caestus Assault Ram and the Land Raider Achilles, and both of them perform very well on the battlefield.

I think many of us have dreamed of using a Thunderhawk in apoc games, those are some beautiful looking models.

  • 4 weeks later...

I received a contemptor dread a few days ago as an engagement/christmas present and let me tell you, I was blown away.

The quality was superb and I highly recommend it. I was so enthused by how well it was made, I am will definitely be putting in my own order for a set of MK3 and MK5 marines with accompanying bolters.

The quality is well, well, well worth the cost.

Mk5 FTW!

I fully agree with Candleshoes. Although I liked the model even from the pictures, having it in your hands just makes you like it even more... Funnily I'm a bit reserved on the Relic Contemptor...

Combination of; FW Repressor, FW Rhino Spaced Armour, FW Damocles Command Rhino Kit, and FW DA Rhino Doors.

I felt the Repressor made it look a little more Commanding.

I'm very much hoping to get one of the Relic Contemptors after Christmas, magnetize it, build it with a TLLC and CCW w/Graviton Gun/Plasma Gun initially, then slowly build up multiple arm options and get a Cyclone launcher, and paint the whole thing up in my Deathwalkers scheme. This is assuming I can convince the wife (or bribe her with an equally/greater costing gift). :)

Personally, I think they should sell the weapon inserts for the CCW for the Contemptor separately.

check out these bits. Im using them for my DW command squad. havent painted them up yet as I'm busy sculpting a DA Chapter Banner

You can get them on ebay as well

I know this guy gets a lot of stick on CMoN because his models are press molded but I think they are awesome
