Niiai
I know that drop pods are frowned upon, but I do think that along with the dreadnought drop pod wing of blood angels and regular marines I do think SW can make a decent drop pod list with GH hunters with a wolf guard with a combi melta being the main ingredience. In short it will be rough and dirty for both parts. Here are two sugestions for how to use drop pods around 1750 points: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=242354 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/242357-drop-pods-any-good/ Share on other sites
skoll
I like running a single drop pod in my list, feels nice to just drop it in turn one. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/242357-drop-pods-any-good/#findComment-2930013 Share on other sites
TheLastHuzzah
I've had success with drop pods. I actually took a hybrid mech/pod list to a local tournament that I took 2nd. I got stomped in the final round w/ a guard leaf blower with whatever the 12"-18" shoot on deepstrike arrival thing (inquisitor & mystic?) when Daemon Hunters could still ally. Ragnars Claw
I've used one with 5 hunters with a melta gun and a wolf guard in termie armour with chainfist and a combi melta with reasonable success before. Drop down turn 1 and take out a target of opportunity and generally be a thorn in my opponents side for the first couple of turns. Nrthstar
I run one every now and then, drop it down just right to block a dread or preds line of sight to my main force and pile my grey hunters out to blow up another vehicle. I would love to run multiple pods but i just haven't had the cash to buy 3-4 more Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/242357-drop-pods-any-good/#findComment-2930175 Share on other sites

Jaarl Stormfang
I'm really keen on the idea of having some grey hunters in a pod. However I'm not sure if I want them to come in turn one or not. Having them delayed a couple turns means I can plonk down a troops choice exactly where I need it for objective games. It requires another unit taking a pod though.. perhaps a dreadnought for 1st turn drop. The alternative is it coming down first turn, and maybe only 5 man plus a termi WG like Ragnars Claw uses. But then with it coming down first turn maybe it would be better to bump the numbers up a bit for the inevitable casualties it will take. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
I always drop 9 Hunters and a Wolf Guard in a pod on turn one. They alleviate so much firepower that it's almost a no-brainer, especially if you get the drop pod location right so that it provides cover to the mech sections of your army.
