OptiMAT
I havent based any of my iron hands models at all yet (seeing as none of them are past the black primer phase atm) and am wondering what people think would be a good colour to go for? For my Crimson Fists I chose basic sand base because the light brown went well with the deep blue but here for Iron Hands / a black armoured scheme they are particularly monochrome so do we go with a slate grey base or add some colour to the army with a grass base etc. etc.? The shelf they'll be sitting on for most of their life is a sand-coloured wood by the way, but I'm not having that define it. Bannus
I went with grey because I didn't want the base to distract from the monochromatic Marines themselves. SCC
Like Bannus I went for understated slate grey bases for my black army: For key models you can lighten things up to help them stand out even more: Which leads to a third option - dress tone, be that marble, alabaster or something else, some delicate, fancy stonework would be a nice compliment to the harshness of IH...
