New Chapter of Doom Legion

First, I'm new to 40k. I am creating a new sub-chapter of the doom legion and basing them on, of all things, the Coalition from Palladium. I am calling the Chapter Death's Head. My problem is fairly simple, I think. I don't know what is available for use in my custom chapter nor how to make custom individual units. There is little to no information on the Doom Legion. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Because they are featured in the Standard Marine Codex, they are most likely a standard marine force with a penchant for heavy orbital firepower (Because of their space-faring duties). You can't make custom units per se as to make up rules or wargear, but you can name and customize your troops within the bounds of what the codex says of course.

Really its not a question of what can you use, its what can't you use. Little is known about the Doom Legion so gathering inspiration from their fluff for your own background will be difficult at best, you will have to be creative for most everything. Just keep your backstory with the Doom Legion as short and necessary as possible as it is technically an official chapter which can be used by GW (meaning your fluff of them might need to change.)

Good luck.

G3rman is right on the money. If you want to know more, ask in your gaming club, it will be far easier than asking over internet.

Anyway...

The Doom Legion is not legion per se, it's normal chapter of Space Marines. The legions of old don't exist anymore, there are only Chapters = no sub-chapters of legions (chaos-scum doesn't count).

Now, I'm not entirely sure what do you want:

- Do you want to build a force of Doom Legion?

- Do you want to build your own custom Chapter?

Next, it's somewhat unspoken rule that Liber Astartes forum is more for custom background development. The forum for custom rules development can be found here.

Cheers, NightrawenII.

To answer the one question, I'm making a custom chapter that is a sub-chapter of the doom legion. I probably could've chosen a more fluffed chapted, but I do enjoy a challenge. I will be putting a backstory together and I suppose I should read up on the HH to get a better understanding of what happened in The Maze and on Elusian Prime. So, yeah. I guess I need alot of help. I do appreciate everyones input and I've receive a very warm welcome. I look forward to working with everone on here.

HH? Horus Heresy?

I'm sorry to say but as Night said, the Doom Legion is not an actual legion from the First Founding. Its just a name, not meant to imply much really. I'm guessing by sub-chapter you don't mean a company inside the Doom Legion, because if so that would mean you are still a Doom Legion player.

If you mean a chapter that came from Doom Legion geneseed, then really the Doom Legion matters very little. Perhaps they were told that their geneseed was used to create it and it was a great celebration, but overall the Parent chapters don't really do too much with their successors in most cases, perhaps offering a training cadre and/or supplies to start off with.

I think he means a regular successor of the Doom Legion.

Honestly considering that the Doom Legion is Matt Ward's personal Chapter (yep that is the one he uses), I'd personally want to stay far away from it, but then that is just me. Also in support of my personal preference is the fact we know so little about them, other than that they are probably Ultramarine successors (considering who they belong to).
