ShinyRhino
Has anyone built a dedicated Command Rhino for their army? That one transport your HQ always rides in that's got a special paintjob, additional details and whatnot. I'm thinking about making a highly decorated Rhino chassis that I can park my Captains, Chaplains, or other HQ units and have it easily recognizable as "special". Things like freehand murals (in monochrome, not ye olde grafitti style. I don't see Marines using a lot of color in their art), built-in shrines, skull columns, etc. Google image searchis turning up dry. SirDuck13
Not sure if its quite what you're looking for Shiny, but ForgeWorld makes a command rhino. You could use it without the special rules or anything. I think the coms dish on top really helps it stand out from the other Rhinos. Other than that, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to give your HQ a specialized transport with all kinds of trim and details added. Depending on what chapter you're running, you could also use etched brass stuff from FW to add details. And of course there's always the option to use plasticard and kitbashing to fill in whatever other blanks you'd want to. red_starrise
I run a razorback for my honour guard squad that's built off a vindicator kit but that's really about it. Jacinda
Scibor makes what they call "decorated plates" you can use to dress up rhino chassis for HQ or special vehicles. Basically they are decoration for doors and the insets on the sides. This goes to their home page but they sell through some of the larger miniature stores, too. (larger miniature? well, you know what I mean.) http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php This is their death angel look, but they have several other styles. http://sciborminiatures.com/i/reniata/big/angel_decorated_plates_rr_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/242801-commandchaplain-rhino/#findComment-2936221 Share on other sites
NemFX
my captains razorback has a different heavy bolter on it (dark angels ravenwing one) and has his symbol painted on the side doors and on a little flag i made. other than that, it looks like the rest. as for a communications one.. my scouts have a heavily converted rhino with a bank of monitors in the back, extra camo, and a sentinel missile launcher on top. Vodunius
FW's example assembled Deimos pattern rhino appears to be a command one: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/MKIC...TERN-RHINO.html Note it isn't a 'stock' Deimos, the guy has used Baneblade headlights. Redfinger
I will get a pic up as soon as a can, but i used bits from the Sisters of Battle Tanke, the Immolator I think....it gave the rhino a "beefier" look and that is the one I use for my command vehicle. OptiMAT
I just went looking for this thread after searching for Sister's stuff to use in my own SM:Army (no luck so far) but the SOB Tanks (for the same price as a standard Rhino) gives you some really nice gothic stuff.
