Champlain question

Competitively? The best load out is Cassius. T6, FnP and a combi-flamer with hellfire rounds for 125pts? Yes please. And he has a bolt pistol to go with his crozius, so he isn't sacrificing close combat ability.

Yeah, the main advice is that if you're not putting it in a jump pack squad, use Cassius. If you are, then a jump pack with perhaps digi weapons and/or meltabombs is the preferred build, comes to 115-130pts (so about the same as Cassius).

So the real question is, what are you putting him in? If it's a power armour squad on foot, be it Vanguard, Sternguard or even a Tactical squad or Assault squad with no jump packs, or if he's going in a Terminator squad take Cassius. Yes Cassius will be as survivable if not more so than a Terminator Chaplain and get more attacks, and grants an extra slot in a Land Raider if you take another power armoured HQ. As already said, if used with jump pack squad, be it Vanguard or Assault Marines then a jump pack.

Hope that helps :tu:.

Just take a regular chaplain. Load him it with some assault termies in a land raider or in a 5 man razorback squad. You now either have a fearless scoring unit ( Always a plus!) or fearless terminators , meaning psyker battle squads and other leadership based units/powers can't ruin your day.

I personally would never teleport assault termies its begging for a ap2 template

Small template shouldn't hit more than 1 if you roll 2+ on your Run! roll.

But a big template ala Vindicator should hit quite a few more .

As others have said, unless you need a chaplain on a bike or flying, Cassius is your man. I've used him before, and he's a complete brick for the points. He won't kill things like Mephiston or Lysander, but they're about twice his points.

I use a jump chaplain a lot more though, and he's usually in an assault squad. They do better in squads with lots of attacks to re-roll. He's not as killy as he used to be (Chaplains used to be really, really killy), but he's not a bad way to spend 115 points.
