The thread has been warned.

As for me, I use the following system to figure out what to take when departing the Fang. BFG says a Battle Barge can transport 4500 points. Therefore I selected the following all Mechanized List:

- Logan

- Bjorn

- Two Wolf Priests

- Three Dreads

- Four Grey Hunter Packs

- One Blood Claw Pack

- Two Wolf Guard Packs

- Three Long Fangs Packs

- Predator Annihilator

- Vindicator

- Two Land Raider Crusaders

Yes this is alot, however to me it feels like what I want to have on-hand to respond to any given threat. I like my choices, and tend to field at 1500 points a WP, Two Dreads, at least Two GH Packs, at least One Long Fang pack, and then go from there. I favor dreads, just have to field two typically, in my experience. I've occasionally used one, not to great results.

Never leave fenris without... combimeltas

But the thermal underwear thing just doesn't make sense. Wherever you go once you leave fenris, it's got to be looking a bit warmer?!?!? So why do you need your thermals?!?!?

I second the Meltas... Lots of meltas/Combi-meltas and Multi-meltas.

I played a game yesterday and used a Pack of Grey Hunters with x2 plasmaguns - they inflicted no wounds on anyone other then themselves and then proceeded to get eaten by the UM Chapter Master and 5 Honour guard they were sent to, if not stop entirely, then inflict casualties upon.

I find that the Thunderwolf cav gets hosed as soon as people see it

Are you not giving them shields? Or running them behind cover of your rhinos/terrain? My twc dies eventually, but not until taking out it's own points plus some.

Anyways I'm just glad to see at least one other wolf still believes in his dreadnoughts

Exactly - there's very tactful way's of running them, SS is essential IMO as well as putting them behind rhino's or two vindicators can be a serious threat.

I never leave Fenris without my Scouts, Why just this past weekend they snuck up behind an ork Boom Gun/Loota squad that had cleared out almost a whole pack of my long fangs. They blew the thing sky high with a melta gun and proceeded to assault the looter squad from the rear while my grey hunter assault squad attacked from the right flank. Point for point my scouts are my most effective and deadly unit!
I never leave the fang without my Chooser of the Slain. He prevents scouting dreadknights from getting too close, watches out for infiltrators, makes PSA rule arguments mostly moot, and always seems to vex someone when they find out they can't shoot it.

As I have yet to leave Fenris, this thread has been extremely helpful, even with the occasional signal degradation. When I do leave Fenris, (and this is totally based on reading and Mindhammer,) I plan to have at least one Wolf Priest and at least one pack of Scouts with me.

Been reading these Forums for awhile, but after reading this thread had to join and give my Space Pup's love :cuss

been playing my Wolves for going on 12ish years now... and still to this day i never leave without my...

Blood Claw Pack, and there Wolf Priest... occassionaly even throw Lukas in for fun ^^

-15 Foaming Loonies charging of a crusader with a wolf priest to boot them in the right direction is fun to unleash of you foe... not to mention a boat load of attacks...

or if my opponent is nice... i may even sneek my Land Raider Achilles from the depts of the fang to the battle field. :)

So true the number of times I hear "What, I cant kill it?" I do love my COS

Hmmm Grey Hunters, Lone Wolves and Wolf Guard for me. Just the other day I did some experimenting with plasma guns in my Grey Hunter packs and they were rather devastating, so I might have to start taking those from now on. Oh, and MOTW.

strap those loonies with a deathdevice(jump-pack) give them a mark and then let them charge. a mark that has D6+3 attacks is always fun to roll for. And your opponent will turn white when he realized he could have shot them away in 2 turns.

I never leave Fenris without at least one Wolf Guard pack in Tactical Dreadnought Armor.

As of late, I would add a ThunderLord with Wolf Claw and Storm Shield. He's been kicking some serious ass for me!!
