which packs work well together and why?

I hate leaving certain pack on their own to just eat bolter fire. It's just a waste of good points. I love having four packs of Grey Hunters work together. I tend to keep my Hunters fairly close to each other to support one another, in a wall of bolter fire. The Grey Hunters and Blood Claws don't seem to work well for me. The only best way they have worked effectively is to have my Grey Hunters six inches ahead of my Blood Claws. The Blood Claws come in from around for the counter-assault. Which packs have you noticed work nicely together in your games and why?

I've only done this once so i dont know if it'll work again but:Terminators and Fen wolves.I was playing a game against an ultras player and hes like "Oh terminators.i'll take them down." My fen wolves came in killed a few tac marines giving my termies ample time to finish shooting at some scouts and telion and coming over and destroying the tac squad.

Generally, I felt that the best way to support a Grey Hunter pack, is either by more Grey Hunters. XD But beyond that, typically what they need is a unit that is able to either A) Provide fire to thin out targets or otherwise draw fire. or B) Join up with them in a melee quickly, allowing them to get through with the least fuss.

With that in mind:

A) Rune Priest, Wolf Scouts, Dreadnorts (easpicaly in a armoured list, can hold pace or hang back) Landspeeders of many types and Long Fangs, Preds and Whirlwinds. They often draw the heat and provide some nicely needed supressing fire that will draw their ire.

B) ThunderWolf Lord, Wolf Guard hidden in a Razor/Rhino, Lone Wolves, Dreadnorts (even if they don't have a CCW, they are more then a threat for a squad, the worst you have to fear from most units is a power fist of some kind.) Skyclaws (They are bloodclaws given sugar. With an effective 18 inch charging range. While I really dislike bloodclaws for being a somewhat clumsy grey hunter, I have an admiration for the bravado and speed these guys display, even if not point efficent. XD) Thunder Wolf (The big brothers to the humble wolf pack).

I admit ,I am very parcial to the landspeeder, though it was a royal bugger to build and unpainted as yet. XD But generally, while Grey Hunters may get wounded, the best way to keep the alive is to have a senior of some kind close by, be it the Long Fangs protecting their younger kin with controlling missle strikes or the Thunder Wolf and Skyclaw stalk close to the troops, ready to spring upon any chance to wreak some havok as a unified pack.
