Recommendations for Inquisitor and Henchmen

Recommended Posts

Hey B&Cers

I was wondering if anyone had some ideas of models to use for converting Inquisitors and Henchmen... I'm looking to add some variety into my models... They can be old, new, gw or other companies I hope this thread can give me some inspiration for some new conversions.

Well, I'll give you a run-down of what I have, see if that kick starts something. Hmm... let's see, I have:

3 Guardsmen made from Cadian and third party (Victoria Lamb's castings) bitz. These models look like Drookians, I reckon. Great for variety.

About a squads worth of Cadian bodies and legs with Scout arms and heads. I envisioned these as mercenaries so the heads they got were SW scout ones and had a 'commander' who sports a power fist (from the RTB01 set, I believe) converted so he's pointing and a shotgun (scout biker).

A crusader made from a Bretonnian, a plastic Necromunda Orlock laspistol and (half an) arm, a plastic shield I currently can't remember where from (probably from the same box) and a SW scout head (the mohican one).

A redemptionist made from an Empire Flagellant, Empire Militia arms and hand flamers (Death Company).

And finally, a whole bunch of gangers from Heresy Miniatures (just for the hell of it, really - they're pretty neat models).

How's that?

I'd suggest some Necromunda miniatures...

perhaps some House Van Saar or if you want a bit more grimdark then Cawdor or Redemptionists.

I think, for Inquisitors, the Empire Duelists could be nicely converted. Add some 40K guns, maybe bulk up their shoulders/armour them, some wires for a bit more `tech`. I think I saw a guardsman made from an Empire handgunner, with a lasgun added once. That was a simple but effective conversion.

Hey dude, here's two awesome threads from right here on the B&C,

The first is a Doghouse production Agents of the Imperium, and is a more traditional Inquisitor/Henchmen setup.

The second is by bad buddha, grey knights, without grey knights, and is a great thread on letting your imagination be your limit and uses ALOT of counts-as.

Go, be inspired!!!

Cheers,

Jono

Death cult - I used Dark Eldar Wyches + some other arms

Crusaders - I used Dark Elf Corsairs with wych arms and Warlord roman Shields

Jokero - Micro art studio Servants

Forgeworld Cadian Hostile Enviroment troops make a good base for Carapace armour (mix of scout and cadian arms)

I used catachans for my regular warriors.

Arco-flagellant + Dark eldar Hydra arms (the ones with all the blades) = an awesome looking eversor

Empire Flagellants + Empire Wizard kit makes some great looking psykers

I bitsboxed the servitors w/ plasmacannons - just make it look awesone and you're good.

Just browse your LFGS and let your imagination take over. :)

@Olisredan

Victoria Lamb's site is great haven't seen her work before

@Kierdale

I've considered using necromunda minis before but I wasn't sure about them since I've never seen them up close. (not sure if facial sculpts look good or like some of GWs not so great looking sculpts from the past.

@Grotsmasha

I've been paying close attention to Doghouse's thread he creates great minis and I've been a fan of his for years.

I hadn't seen Bad Buddahs thread but that Dr. Wily style Karamazov is awesome... His J-Ork-aro is great too

@TJWyrm

Got any pics of your work? sounds like some good ideas

@Zincite

I recently just bought that blister having the same idea :)

@Doghouse

If you end up reading this... I want to kidnap your hands and make them work on my minis :P

Your creativity and GS skills never cease to amaze.

Eeep! ^_^

I think the really cool thing about Inquisitor retinues is that it is hard to do something wrong and you can really run riot with your imagination. If you get the chance I recommend checking out the Agents of the Imperium artwork book for inspiration as it has some fantastic character designs in there that will be a great starting point for ideas.

It all depends on what sort of feel you want for the retinue, the order of the Inquisitor is an excellent starting point for the look of the models. For example if you took a Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor you could look to WFB Flagellants boxed set for suitably fanatical looking cohorts. FW are another source of parts that are well worth looking into as well, there are plenty of servitors that really can help give your retinue the gothic look.

I'd also take a look at what it is that you want from the retinue and how you intend to use them as that will greatly influence the look and feel of them.
