I've never tried drilling out gun barrels... you use a power drill for that?

 

I could see it ending badly, maybe. Hahaha

 

Metal - Dremel.

Plastic - Dremel or pin vice.

Resin - Pin vice.

 

It depends on what you need to put holes in, and how large the holes need to be. I've yet to get a Dremel of my own, but from the tips I've gathered it is great for metal, good for plastics and way to hardcore for resins (finecast).

Quick tip - use a sharp pointed needle file (or really anything with a sharp point) to score the center of the barrel first. That will give the pin vice a spot to bite into before you start drilling. Otherwise your pin vice tends to drift when you are trying to drill. I ended up with a lot of off center barrels before I figured that out.
