Conversion Question

I personally think it would. Wolves don't like helmets really. I also think it lacks more of the traditional wolf decoration (wolves, gems). But it is your army, never forget that, i have seen some awesome results with those helmets, altough that was for Chaos

You might wanne take a look at this:

They also have another where they use some Viking helms. Considering how SW rather do not wanne wear helments i do not think a "pot helm" will rob them of to many senses.

Did you check the link he posted?

I use WOC bitz and I think it's all about the look you are after. My wolves are very dark, and not very nice either..

So they work well for me. I too love the Frank Frazetta look.

In fact as a slight aside, If any one can find the Death Dealer novels I recommend them.

I Think I am gonna make these

with that in mind I am debating on using the helmets with the WOC

would it be too much

keep in mind that it may look cool, however the template from the WOC also limits your poses, as you wont get a dynamic looking SW army. In turn making the rest of your SW army all look pretty much the same... it's a shame really, as they look cool. But I prefer having my SW each look independent and dynamic.

--EDIT--

in the long run, you end up wasting more bits by cutting up pieces for weapons and arms, were those said pieces can be used elsewhere that is more beneficial. Also, it's better to keep the WOC/dog house pattern template to independent characters or Wolf Guard pack leaders. Instead of having an entire army of them... they tend to end up looking bland in the end in my opinion. Sure they look fantastic, but no real dynamic or character, that a true SW should be portrayed. The WOC helmets are fine, you just have to find the right balance and have a good eye when putting an entire marine together.

I have 40 Blood Claws and 40 Grey Hunters..........thinking of another 10 more of each...............the WOC/SPACE WOLVES will be wolf guard in PA..............I also already have 20 wolf guard in Terminator armor

I have a ton of bits so bits aint an issue

Mostly as a codex compositional comment rather than a practical one, I'd consider tweaking that number. Symmetry's nice and all, what with 50 of each, but for me, it'd drive me nuts due to footslogged BCs fitting 15 to a pack and it not really being worth it taking less than a full pack with regards to the current codex ruling.

So personally, I'd make only 5 more Blood Claws (making 45.... 45/15 = 3x full packs of BCs) and/or take 10 of your current 40 BCs and make them Skyclaws (leaving 2x full packs of footer BCs), and take the 20 you plan to make and just make them Grey Hunters instead.

Just a personal choice, though, so feel free to ignore me. For all we know, next edition will have BCs back to an even number again and a statline desirable enough to neglect GHs.

Hah, funny to see this come up again. It's probably been a bit more then a month now, but I was also working on the same conversion. In the end I found it to be a lot of work, and it was very limiting. As stated earlier by MaveriK they are basically all in the same stance. Also, for the helms, I made 3 marines with those helms, they didn't really look like they belong in 40k, thats just my opinion though.

The work is also very hard for each marine you need to:

- Trim the arm sockets: Not nearly as easy as it seems, the files from GW arent really the right shape, so it takes awhile to get it nice and smooth.

- Cut Space Wolf arms to fit in the new area

- Trim the back boxed area: This is the easiest part

- Filing for the backpack

- Cutting the body in half

- Trimming off the belt

- Cutting off the thigh armour and reglueing on new legs

I do however, recomend if anything using them for HQ's. Im going to make my Rune Priests and Wolf Priests with these bodies. By all means if you really like it, go for it. Just be prepared for a lot of work.

Best of luck!
