eyeslikethunder
Really? How do you deal with the halberds going off at initiative 6? that's what kills me most of the time. If GK's went off at the same initiative as my wolves I'd really have no issues at least matching them in combat, but when GK's get to hit first and take out half of my 10 man GH squad because i don't even get armor saves that's 15 attacks that i don't get to utilize. I have the same issues with the Dark Eldar as far as initiative goes. How do you deal with GK's in CC because i'd really like some pointers on that. Also any pointers anyone has on Dark eldar would be great as well as i'll be playing those far more frequently than GK's in the near future. Either storm shields or lots of numbers and accept the losses. Both are normally not really worth it. Best way kill them before they get to CC. If you can charge the DE and you have a wolf put him on the IC to limit the damage he does. G. A. K.
basically as the GK go, they are SOOO expensive that you can't compare them to Grey Hunters on a model by model basis. the cost of a regular Gk marine is greater plus any upgrades (Halbreds). It isn't that you'll just beat them in CC but you will most likely have 30 Ghs facing around 15 to 20 GKs depending on the add-ons. shoot them and overpower them with superior numbers. And make sure to have a rune priest around to stop all that pshycic crap they throw at you. I've played them in tournies half a dozen times and I've only lost to them once (the first time I played them). Remember this... if you don't need to kill the paladins to complete the mission don't bother, bait them away from the action and make all those points waisted. Or hit them with a few demolisher rounds, both are good options :D. Dark Eldar are a whole different problem, they're cheap so they have atleast as manny models as you if not more and all have at least Int 5 (Wyches are Int 6!!), not to mention their transports have f'ing lascannon equivalents for like 55 pts. Against DE winning really depends on the mission and your opponents luck with his flickerfield saves period. My $.02, hope it helps G Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243011-difficult-armies-to-beat/page/2/#findComment-2941784 Share on other sites
ICHD?
DE armies that are Wych-heavy are pretty much the bane of my gaming life ATM. Sure I can shoot some of them, but then theres MORE of them, and Russ help me, they're usually chock-full of sneaky tools to stab/shank/maim with. Don't even get me started on Lelith.......mean spirited cow she is....... Rikochet
Against Grey Knights I find it not too difficult using a kiting strategy, wearing them down with long fangs and landspeeders until they actually manage to catch and break open a rhino. I agree with ICHD, only army I have a big problem with these days are the bloody Dark Eldar. A friend of mine insists on using Vect everytime (actually managed to kill Vect with jaws once, was hilarious) but those damn wyches and incubi and and and everything :,( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243011-difficult-armies-to-beat/page/2/#findComment-2942043 Share on other sites
WyrdWolf
So what i'm getting on the DE is that they're pretty nasty. As far as different game types, how about just plain old annihilation. and capture/hold objectives? I know grey hunters are supposed to be good at just capturing and sitting on spots to hold, but what if a webway gets dropped next to them on the objective, think it'd be worth it to stay and fight, or just move out to capture another objective and stay the hell away from the webway? Rikochet
It depends what is coming out of the webway, but you wont really know what it will be until smack. I usually leave my GH in the rhino, by the objective until it is destroyed, shooting from the hatch, in objective games that seems to work best for me personally as the DE might not have time to get it all done before its over. I also like to keep a LR redeemer or landspeeder with heavy flamers close to objectives and/or webways so that anything coming near gets burned real good, many DE units dont have a very high armorsave so its pretty effective, provided your vehicles dont get penetrated.
