Stories of True-Scale by GooseDaMoose

Hello all,

Yes, you don't need to say it: you told me so B). I am back (for now) to the hobby with a couple of projects I have been working on here in fair Amsterdam. Sadly I have left the Sons of Malice be for now, to try out something I've been wanting to do for a while. I am, at heart, a converter, and I have yearned to be free of the restrictions of actually building an army, which brings me to doing exactly what I want!

And I have, like everyone else here I imagine, wanted to try my hand at true-scaling. I'm working with a blend of Masteroftheforge- and Doghouse's true-scaling tutorials.

So I come to this. Skena, Chosen of Khorne:

What do you guys think? I apologise if the picture quality ain't great, I'm getting used to a new laptop and camera.

Comments and criticism is highly appreciated!

Add another welcome back from me!

I'm not really feeling the "bunny ears" sticking out of the back like that (I don't really like the bunny ears wherever they are, actually) but everything else is great. The patchwork skin on the cape is simple but highly effective, and the spiked ball and chain gets points for being something you never really see done. The whole thing is ambitious, well befitting a champion of the Blood God.

Brother!!! It is so great to see you again here on the forums. And if no one else will say it, damn sure I will... WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!

As for the true scale Champion, he is victorious and brilliant, I love the incorporation of roman armor into the model, and the sculpting is phenomenal....

glad to see you still mastering GS and keep on marveling us with new sculpts.

@Mr. Malevolent Thank you very much for the first comment! :P it's good to be back! But no, as I stated before, I want to avoid being dragged into making an army of any kind so I can keep my creative freedom and do whatever I want ;)

@Vairocanum, Brother Melice, Natanael, Dark Apostle Thirst, firestorm40k, Battle-Brother Ludovic, and Dorns_fist Thank you guys for your comment, really appreciate it, it's really quite a warm welcome to come back to!

@Olisredan thank you for the comment, I thought it would be okay if he wasn't holding onto the chain, since he's sort of at a relaxed pose of challenge. As soon as the fight starts he's ready to grab it and start swinging. It's like in a gunslinger duel, your hand hovers just above the holster, innit. Does it look okay then, with that in mind? :P

@-Max- I hear you all the way, I'm not a huge fan myself, but I thought this way it'd be a bit toned down instead of being full-on 'bunny ears' and would show his allegiance to Khorne.

For now, I have nothing grand to show you except my other projects that I'm working on at the moment. They are at the moment quite WiP and I'm entering a pretty stressy part of my semester. I am, however, working on them slowly but surely, so have patience with me ;)

Sorceror of Nurgle (Yes, it is very much stolen from Hamlet ;) )

And secondly, a Chosen of Slaanesh, and duelling partner to Skena:

These guys are less complete, both conceptually and physically, so I've gotta do some background thinking for the both of them, as well as a few more concept sketches, so I can really create some full characters.

Comments and criticism to help me improve are, as always very much welcome! Thanks for looking!

And I'm back with a bit of progress!

First off, our resident Nurgle Sorceror:

Now, I'm not one hundred percent sure about the backpack. I sculpted the dead Imp. Guard Commander a long time ago after seeing the Forgeworld Lord Zhufor model and have been wanting to use him for ages. Now though, I'm thinking it might be a bit over-the-top for a Death Guard. What do people think about just a skull at the top of the pole?

I have also started work on a Shaman. I'm still trying to decide on his backstory, so far I'm thinking he's a renegade Space Wolf psyker who, in his enthusiasm to slay the enemies of the Emperor, has accepted Tzeentch's patronage and travels the galaxy hunting daemons. Please feel free to comment!

And finally, my newest project which I'm very excited about. I drew inspiration from so many sources for this guy. At first I wanted a sort of rough-and-tumble Mechanicus Enginseer. After long campaigns of attachment to an Imperial Guard Regiment, he'd have gotten in touch with his human side. Believe it or not, I took inspiration from Mario, wanting a sort of badass plumber/fixer who wasn't afraid to committ to a fight. Alas, however, projects warp and change without my control and now I'm going for more of a veteran Skitarii of some sort (I still haven't decided). But I looked to Boba Fett and these guys so he's slowly starting to take shape:

Personally I love that backpack and its `adornment`.

Outstanding conversions and GS on them all.

"Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him..."

"To be, or not to be. That is the question..."

Brilliant pose, hands down. Great work all around, but this is my favorite. You just have to look at it for a few seconds to be swept into the famous soliloquy. Really... great work.

I'll say it again, your Green Stuff skills are improving drastically my friend.

I absolutely love the jacket on the Sorcerers trophy rack.

My favorite of the new set has to be that Skitarii, so much detail.

Keep at it my friend and keep those creative juices flowin'!
