What happens to the PDF?

I am not sure if this is the right place to post it but while working on my own DIY chapter background I have been thinking about this and am not sure what to do. My chapter is of the 26th founding and was given an Imperial world as a home world. Now the civil infrastructure would stay largely the same I think, but the higher office like governor would be replaced by the chapter master and so on. Now what would happen to the PDF that the planet would have had before. Would they be maintained, thus putting men under arms under the control of Space Marines, or would they be disbanded, shipped of world as a Imperial Guard regiment, serve as a chapter serves and crew for the chapters fleet, something else entirely?

In connection to this is there any official fluff that would help, or is it just a case of what sounds right.

Rarely do Space Marines take over worlds advanced enough to have significant PDF forces. Worlds they rule are generally rather less developed than other worlds. Even if they do take control of a more advanced world, the PDF may remain. In that case, the Marines don't really control Men at Arms, since the PDF never leaves world, and only control them in defense of the Homeworld. Since Marine homeworlds are invaded so extremely rarely in the grand scheme of things. I don't think you will have any issues :pinch:

The Ultramarine Homeworld has PDF forces on it and ships that are controlled by the system not the Ultramarines. This isn't counting the Chapter serfs that the Ultramarines have aswell.

There is a story about the Sycthes of the Emperor in the book "Legends of the Space Marines" that talks about the Chapter serfs and PDF of their homeworld that sacrifaced themselves to slow a Hive Fleet so the Chapter could escape.

So some of the homeworlds may have PDF but some will not like the Space Wolves don't have a PDF force on theirs. The Blood Angels don't have one on theirs but the planet that it orbits has a PDF.

As others have said if Marines do settle on a planet with an Imperial government (as in Governor, Adeptus Arbites, PDF and everything) they would just build their fortress-monastery in the wilds or the arse-end of nowhere so they would not interfere. I imagine the Marines would get a say on some matters and they would be approached first when the time comes to defend the planet.
