1+1_2x2_3^3
Do you think it is to farfetched for a Rogal Dorn descendant chapter to use the insanguination process to make marines, simaliar to the way Blood Angels do it? I was thinking that I could shroud how they got his blood in mystery. I was thinking along the lines that the chapter believes that apothecary x who were amongst the marines who found Rogal Dorn's dead body, reclaimed his spilled blood believing it to be to sacred to be left on a chaos ship. The blood is put away as a Holy Relic, but when the apothecary joins a training cadre he asks the Chapter Master for a vial of blood so that the new chapter could use the insanguination process to create new marines for the new chapter, and the Chapter Master grants the ancient apothecary his wish. I dont like how tthe blood is kept in the bodies of the sanguinary priest, so I need an alternative. I am thinking that I can say that in exchange for a very small sample of blood the adeptus mechanicus gifted the new chapter with an ancient machine that is capable of completing the insanguination proceess and keeping the blood of Rogal Dorn pure. What do you guys think? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243130-blood-of-rogal-dorn/ Share on other sites
Hrvat
Could be done but I am not sure if it is possible. The Blood Angels insanguination process is vital for the creation of a Blood Angel since Sanguiniuses presence activates the gene-seed, in the same way Space Wovles drink from that cup (can't remember the name ATM) to do the same. The Imperial Fists have their own traditions and ways of creating new space marines so I do not think it would be possible for them to use the insanguination process. For the marines of your chapter to have a small portion of Rogal Dorns blood it is possible for various reasons. 1+1_2x2_3^3
Thank you, Hrvat you are right various chapters use various techniques to activate the geneseed. However according to pg 13 of the Blood Angels codex there was never a set way to activate it! Yes, different chapters used certain techniques like the Space Wolves and the test of morkai, but I do not believe that is the only way to activate their gene-seed they just choose to do it that way. Obviously there will be consequences for using the insanguination process, but that will make the chapter stand out more. In the Blood Angel's codex it says that the Imperial Fist used a technique called the Hand of Faith, but I am unable to find any info on it! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243130-blood-of-rogal-dorn/#findComment-2939189 Share on other sites
Leonaides
Bear in mind that that first apothecary probably doenst know any other way to implant new marines... And why would he be so keen to discard something he's been brought to view as a holy act, ordained by his Primarch as the way it should be done? 1+1_2x2_3^3
Wow, really tough questions Leonaides! The apothecary does not see it as discarding but improving and expanding the process! Through your question I think I have a good reason and a good cornerstone for my chapter, thank you. Shinzaren
Imp Fists are pretty traditional and slow to change. Why would a marine who fought alongside Rogal Dorn seek to better the Primarch's implantation process? As Leonaides brought up, you are basically either discarding the Primarch, or outright stating you can improve on him. Perhaps instead of having the Insanguination be a part of the implantation process, make it the very last ritual act to being a brother of the chapter. They have to take the blood of Rogal Dorn into them and share in its glory and strength. As a flaw, perhaps Dorn rejects or doesn't interact with all the recruits, leading some complications or a problem, since Dorn's spirit is basically rejecting these initiates? I like the idea of the Apothecary taking the blood, but I think you would need more than a vial. Perhaps he recovered a significant amount, and as a reward for his legendary life/deeds, the Imp Fist chapter master gifts all of it to him and his new chapter, passing on the blood like other chapters might pass on a holy relic or piece of their Primarch. Just some thoughts for you, otherwise I like the idea of insanguination being tried by other chapters. Leonaides
should point out that the crimson fists most holy relic of all was a mace with a crystal head, containing a measure of dorns blood. This was seriously special, so try not to overdo the amount your chapter gets...
