Muzza
Hi guys this is a log for my Astral Claws. I'm hoping they will look dark, dirty and rough. Just as the grim darkness of the far future would expect. So far I am currently working on Valthex. Here is how he came from FW: http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae346/Chrismurray/IMAG0143.jpg And two work in progress shots. http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae346/Chrismurray/astral%20claws/pic2-1.jpg http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae346/Chrismurray/astral%20claws/pic1.jpg And finally a close up that I think looks quite menacing. http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae346/Chrismurray/astral%20claws/pic3.jpg I've made heavy use of washes on the model to give him a dirty and worn look. I'm looking forward to finishing him off. I also have on order two sets of Astral Claws shoulder pads so when they arrive I'll start on some tactical squads. Brother Captain Ritter
Good start, i'm a big fan of gritty battle worn armies. You may want to give weathering powders a try, focusing on areas that the marine would most likely get dirty such as the lower legs. Muzza
Thanks for the advice, the weathering powders are something I have thought about but have never used before. I'm thinking of ordering some in the new year from Forgeworld so I will definately try some on him (and other units). I've just found out that I am working every day until christmas now so progress will be slow on this army.
