TheDarkOne
So, I've been playing with a razorback spam list for a while, and its pretty good, i don't use Crowe, or Cotaez cause the league I play in most doesn't allow special characters, and I'm not really impressed with 5 Grey Knights in a Psybolt hevay bolter razorback with a psycannon... its cheap, and has 3 twin liked s6 shots, but once their ride dies, the 5 dudes are pretty mundane... they die, they may kill somehting but probably just end up hiding, or trying to get psycannon shots on somehting, generally not doing much. Recently, I've been experimenting with a much more expensive unit... 10 grey knights, 2 hammers, 2 psycannons, psybolts - 260 pts vs the 110 of the 5 man squad. I buy a rhino for one, and a razorback for another. I also take an terminator psycannon inquisitor with 3 meltagun warriors and a chimera, the meltagunners get in the razorback, the 10 man displaced squad rides with the inquisitor in the chimera. Shooting between 4 and 8 psycannon shots out of the rhino and 8 and 12 psycannon shots, plus 2 s5 stormbolters out of the hatch of the chimera... deadly 24" shooting from the tanks, and when the tanks finally get destroyed (very early for savvy opponnents) there's often the squad to still deal with, and a 10 amn squad with psybolts and force weapons andhammers and psycannons is indeed a force to be reckoned with! they don't belong in combat, they belong shooting the crap out of everyyyyything with 4-8 psycannon shots and 16 S5 Stormbolter shots! how many marines does that kill in a firefight? I don't need to do the math to know the answer 'waaaay more than they'll kill shooting you at the same range!" Anyway, this positive rant is ending, does anyone else regularly use strikers in a similar manner? fully decked out ready to lay down the law? Something Wycked
Absolutely. My Strikes are equipped identically, minus the second hammer. And the Rhino. Mine either get deployed in cover to hold the home objective or they arrive via Deep Strike to do the same or attack the enemy objective- and as I bring two units of them, I have flexibility in that purpose. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243219-10-gk-in-a-rhino-awesomesauce/#findComment-2940215 Share on other sites

Anyway, this positive rant is ending, does anyone else regularly use strikers in a similar manner? fully decked out ready to lay down the law? you seem surprised that laying down twice as many points into your strike squad inquisitor and chimera lead to better results than your 2 5 man strike units were giving in their razorbacks. I happen to strikes on both ways you have mentioned and they work well in either configuration. A a full squad of ten the psybolt ammo becomes a great option however cheap paybacks are amazing at stunning or neutralizing enemy transports an between the two 6 twin linked strength 6 shots at 36" range is nothing to scoff at. You have to realize that for the points you have spent on the chimera and psybolt you could pretty much give both razorbacks assault canna with psybolt. Now sure you don't have the str 5 storm bolter upgrade but you pump out 2 more twinlinked effectively psycannons that can move 6 and fire to full effect and can target indipenently from your main unit. Regards, Crynn Ps mind any spelling I'm typing this on my I-phone. mattyhavok
I too love to use my 250 pt strike squads. I will generally run 2 of them as excellent base holders. The amount of fire they can put out is amazing. They also don't do too bad in combat. They have actually killed a deamon prince thanks to deamon bane. I have thought about putting them in rhinos, but I always decide against it. Mainly because I have a mech guard and blood angels force. I'm keeping the knights on foot. Paladins and strikes all the way. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243219-10-gk-in-a-rhino-awesomesauce/#findComment-2940358 Share on other sites
Aidoneus
10 Strikes: 2 Psycannons, Psybolts, MC-TH - ;) These form the backbone of every GK list I make. Even when I throw in other units, it's often an identical Interceptor squad, or a Purifier squad with all that plus 7 halberds. The volume of fire is fantastic, especially when you get 4+ of these units in a list. They're also mobile, pretty decent in CC, and can do fun things with deep strike and/or combat squadding. Just a wonderful unit all-round. You definitely don't need a transport for them, btw. With a 30" threat bubble (move 6" fire 24") and deep strike, that's all the mobility you need. Most of the time, the Rhino's just going to give away an easy KP.
