Been trying to get my styling of these guys right, am not usually one for gritty, battle damaged marines but i think its definitetly the way to go with the Executioners.

So what are your impressions then?

Interesting, very interesting...I like that colour though I imagined the Executioners' blue being a touch darker. Care to share the recipe?

I like the battle damage and I'm glad to see a skull there too, very Executioner-like touch that.

I'd love to see a trench themed base on this guy, some real down and dirty warfare where he can get stuck into the enemy at close quarters and do what his Chapter does best...

Thanks for the thumbs up :D

The armour is a little darker and has a slightly more purple hue in the flesh, i did tamper with those pics as they were abit smoggy looking.

The recipe is simple enough-

black prime then boltgun base (i keep out of the recesses with the metallics)

60/40 blue and purple wash (add 50% water)

50/50 boltgun metal and chanmail (Hightlight edges and battle damage)

add same wash mixture again, with less water.

Chainmail (Hightlight battle damage)

Thats pretty much it. The backpack is a standard tac marine one, i replaced the exhausts with matching heads from a Grave Guard box

Trench works for bases seems good, though i picture these guys on exotic far flung planets during their penitent crusade.

I'm still working out insignia etc, Workin on a heavy flamer and DW veteran now.

And this is why we need a clapping emoticon. Well done sir, you've made a conversion look like the real McCoy. ;)

Cheers mate, must have been a 24hr thing, felt good today and got some work done

Axe brother Gortus - cited for his assisted defense of the Salamanders geneseed vault aboard Pyre of Glory during the Red hour incident. Wielding a Dragonborn pattern heavy flamer known to be used exclusivly by the Salamanders, whether it was gifted or a spoil of war none can truly say.

Squad leader Sgt Grimm and brother Gortus, Grimm was chronicled for his Relentless butchery of Tyrant's Legion forces in the wake of the Red hour incident.

I love it how you mix in the fluff with your models. It puts them on a different (and far higher) level

Edit: I'm glad that you're better, as there will be more progress <_<

Hah, the rhino driver would have papped himself. Its tradition for Executioners to leave the marks of war upon their armour, i expect that means up to the point of not impeding functionality.

Next guy is a DW vet who was recalled to the chapter to serve in their penitent crusade, sucks to be him!

"Gortus! You're UP!" The pilot light on the Marine's Flamer popped to life as he lifted his head. "Covering fire brothers!" The squad's Bolters started to spit shells at the bunker, forcing the strong-point defenders to shrink back for a moment.

Gortus eased around the corner and then lunged forward with frightening speed. In just four massive strides, half way to the bunker entrance, his weapon erupted in a ten meter long gout of flame. As he continued to advance, the flames lurched forward, tumbling in to the bunker's entrance as he guided it's wrath towards the opening. Within seconds fire started spilling out of the weapon slits of the bunker, it's occupants instantly consumed.

I really like the Flamer. The pose makes me think he's going, "1... 2... 3... Go!" before doing something like I just wrote. Nice work.

Definitely, I like the kneeling leg set, there should be more in the box sets. You can now write my Executioners novel

Yeah, I want to convert a few different kneeling legs, and make a mould of them so I can make personal copies. It's one really nice pose that my army is completely lacking.

Every once-and-awhile I mention that I plan to write fluff for my army. I don't do it much, yet, but I like to think I'm not bad at it when I do.
