Muras
Origins http://discipleschapter.com/images/disciple%20-%20Chapter%20Symbol.jpg The chapter is a 26th founding chapter founded in the year 738M41. They were founded using Blood Angel geneseed and are only relatively recently (as of approximately 850M41) reaching full fighting strength due to some considerable losses during their early history. Rumors persist that the Adeptus Mechanicus representative to the High Lords of Terra was the primary force behind a chapter of the 26th founding being generated in the particular eastern fringe sector, though some point out that the High Lords would likely have founded a chapter in the region regardless due to the sporadic Ork incursions in the area. It is rumored that the Mechanicus have significant investments in the sector and wanted at least one marine chapter based in the Phemos system and used their influence to ensure that the new marines were directed to the system. Rumors have it, that the forge world in the system is one of the few that can still produce some of the components of terminator armour. This would of course, would condone extreme measures to keep this planet well protected. Officially, however, the Disciples were founded in the region to help pacify the rampant Orks and to provide a strong presence in that sector; later helping stymie the Tau's expansion, as well as resisting the numerous Tyranid Fleets encroaching from the galactic east in recent years. The Disciples original actions took place against Tau in the post Damocles Crusade era. Fortunately for the Tau, the recent Tyranid incursions have forced the Imperium to abandon their eventual eradication crusades and to focus on dealing with the massive Tyranid invasion. Recent actions have shown them to be a worthy successor to their Primarch's gene seed and they have proven an invaluable force in keeping the region from being lost to the light of the emperor. Home World Phemos VII is an agriworld with a few mining facilities, in close proximity to the Damocles Gulf and the Tau home world. Those garrisoning the world are primarily local PDF and the first Imperial Guard regiment founding for the planet, the Phemos First, occurred on 990M41 at the insistence of Daius Ithylmar the Disciples chapter master. The world has thrived under the chapter's protection and it was decided that htey had adequate resources to commit to this, even though it is not required. The Phemos First are currently embroiled in the holding actions to prevent the Tau's expansion. The medicae facilities of the orbiting stations are known all throughout the Imperium for their continued refinement of medical knowledge rediscovered in the latter half of M41 and performing near miracles in saving the lives of troops who have been involved in skirmishes with the Tau and Tyranids. These facilities boast an order of Sisters of the Bleeding Heart who take in supplicants from all across the Imperium who wish to learn from their medical expertise. Sisters are often dispatched to act as field medicae in major crusades in the sector. Phemos VII is a model world of the Imperium. Only recently colonized for an Imperial world (854M38) the population is still fairly small compared with your average Imperial world and considered by many to be backwater. The world is a large agriworld, which produces food for many of the surrounding systems. They have limited natural resources, which are duly collected and tithed from, but primarily end up being used up in the forges that located on the largest of the planet's 3 moons. These forges supply the Chapter and Phemos' Guard with the weapons they use to go to war. The people of the planet are very stringent about pollution and have only allowed limited development to occur on the planet's surface. They know that excess amounts of pollution will ruin the environment and destroy the crops their lives are dependent on. They are constantly striving to rediscover technologies once used by human explorers to sustain life during the initial exploration of the galaxy, which were much more efficient than current Imperial methods. This outlook makes them naturally prone to using renewable technologies, such as lasguns, for home defense against the few remaining natural predators that roam the planet's verdant surface instead of the normal solid slug weapons you find on most Imperial worlds as well as vs. occasional raids by Xenos. The current planetary governor is a woman named Shara Bennett, most recent in the long hereditary lines of the Bennetts who have ruled the planet since its settlement. She has been a reasonably popular choice to date, however the planet's cartels have begun to become very concerned with her lack of military experience and the looming threat from the Tau whose borders have expanded to include systems nearby. The only check on them removing her to date has been fear that the Disciples might look upon removing her unfavorably. The Disciples by and large allow her to rule unimpeded, although they have overturned some decisions in the past, particularly when it comes to funding defences or the founding of their first guard regiment. There are a few PDF regiments stationed on the planet, primarily in Xenos ruins that are strategically dotted about the planet as well as the primary space port where the food tithes are levied; due the difficulty in getting enough resources to construct proper Imperial bases as well as the significant durability of the existing structures. An Adeptus Mechanicus Techpriest detachment has been dispatched from the nearby planet Phemos IX, to ensure that the bases are properly consecrated and studied. These bases are easy to defend and that restrict ground access to varying parts of the planet. The Adeptus Mechanicus maintains a strong presence in the planets Phemos IX and in orbit around Phemos I. Phemos IX is a forge world, which is constantly pumping supplies out to the varying armies on the eastern fringe. Phemos I is an industrial curiosity for the Imperium, and many rare crystals can be found there. This includes, it is rumored, psionically resonant crystals used in force weaponry. Extraction of these precious materials is imperative but difficult and time consuming due to extreme hot/cold cycles due to the proximity or distance to the sun during a portion of its elliptical orbit. The Disciples have established a Fortress Monastery on the smallest of Phemos VII's three moons. The design of the Monastery predates the Disciples acquisition of it, and the original purpose was to conceal the base during planetary approach so that the defenders could engage the attackers after they have passed the lunar orbits. Many ships pass by the Monastery each day, not even realizing that there is a heavily armed and armored defense station embedded in the rocky surface of the moon. The Disciples Fortress Monastery consists of 4 primary wings, a central chapel and a shipyard. Each wing is dedicated to a specific aspect of the Disciples' lives. The first wing is their living quarters. They eat meals and spend their time at rest in this wing. It's primary purpose is to allow the Disciples to reflect upon their training and to master things other than just war, a fairly unique longevity their genetics offer. One whole wing of the Disciples Fortress Monastery is dedicated to healing and spiritual worship. It is here amongst the wounded that the Disciples are trained in the arts of healing and the faith in humanity and the Emperor that the Chaplains instill in them. Any battle brother not on military duty is expected to spend their first 2 hours of each day here dividing their time between studying and practicing medicine and praying to the Emperor. Any Disciple can be expected to perform all but the most difficult of surgeries given the proper equipment and many of them even without the proper equipment. The third wing is where they practice the arts of war in a number of hermetically sealed combat environments, emulating environmental extremes from blizzards to deserts. The final wing is where those who are entombed as living ancients and the chapter's armory is preserved. It is rumored there is also a hidden compartment where those who are lost to the black rage are held, but none outside the chapter has ever seen it. Recruiting is done from the dregs of society on Phemos IV as well as from a few neighboring worlds, the most prominent of which is Skrei, a world long ago liberated by Space Wolves. With such a large percentage of the chapter having been recruited from that world, the beliefs of the local populace have slowly begun to be absorbed by the chapter. Combat Doctrine The Disciples prefer a flexible mix of ranged combat to hand to hand combat due to their conservative nature, in accordance to the teachings of the Codex Astartes. Their geneseed compels them to maintain strong close combat capabilities, to be used when the situation warrants it, but they strive to balance this out with ranged weapons to increase the odds of winning the imminent assault decisively with few losses. Often the chapter will employ significant forces to save even the smallest number of their comrades, believing, contrary to imperial doctrine, that the sacrifice of the few is not justifiable for the greater good (which has caused conflicts with other Imperial commanders on numerous occasions). To the Disciples, every man, woman and child can make a difference, if someone had decided to 'sacrifice' the emperor or the Lord Solar Macharius in an engagement before he came of his own, humanity would have long since fallen to the Ruinous Powers. This is quite at odds with the Inquisitions view of such things and the Inquisition has kept a close eye on the Disciples for signs further heresy. The Inquisition has yet to find any actual evidence of heretical activity due to this belief, but their scrutiny continues. Because of this belief and because of the complexity of their geneseed all of the Disciples are at least partially trained in the way of the apothecary, though the Sanguinary priests are the chapter’s true masters of the art of healing. Every marine's life is invaluable to the chapter, and when a marine dies their gene seed must be harvested; thus ensuring that their most potent warriors’ lives are never wasted. After battles, often the Disciples can be seen wandering the battlefield tending to wounded warriors, be they fellow space marines or lowly guardsmen. Organization The Disciples are organized as a Codex chapter consisting of 10 companies with a captain and command for each, a chapter master, an armory and a few specialists outside of the core chapter. The only deviations are they have a larger than average Apothecarion and a small contingent of Sanguinary guard to honor the traditions of their forbearers. Also notable is that they are very well equipped for such a young chapter, with the majority of their veterans having terminator armor available and a larger than average Land Raider complement. The chapter boasts all of the typical Blood Angel’s deviations from the Codex, from Stormravens to Death Company. Death company in the chapter are called bluehelms due to the heraldry they are given when inducted into the company. They also boast Sanguinary guard who have an alternate Disciples scheme instead of the usual gold armor. Beliefs The Disciples chapter has an unusually forward looking view, believing that each person has potential to bear great boons to the Imperium and will do nearly anything to save Imperial lives. They believe in the holiness and divinity of the Emperor. They believe in the Manifest Destiny of Humanity, and will stop at nothing to achieve this; destroying any who would oppose such a glorious goal. They value the lives of the humanity that they were created to protect, yet believe that only the Emperor is worthy of serving. Respect is given to those who show a regard for the lives of others and a willingness to protect the Imperium. Those who wantonly disregard the lives of those the Disciples protect are not worthy of respect. Gene seed is viewed as the most holy gift the Emperor bestowed upon his marines, and they even revere the gene seed so much as to take great risks to retrieve it. There are even rumors that they have abandoned planned campaigns in their lengths to acquire and preserve other chapter's gene seed to be returned to the parent chapters as soon as possible. There is nothing more repugnant to the Disciples than traitor space marines, who use the gift of geneseed to battle against the Imperium. There have been a few elements of the culture of Skrei that are seeing prominence within the chapter, such as a variation on veneration of Space Wolves beliefs from millennia ago alongside the teachings of the Disciples' genetic father Sanguinius. This provides for a bit of a schism within the chapter, as some of the more 'civilized' marines frown upon the wolf pelt and totem toting brethren. Chapter Master Ithylmar has stamped down upon this heavily and been careful to keep the two groups integrated so as to not cause a real rift that could impede battlefield performance. Gene seed The Disciples are descended from the Blood Angels via the Lamenters Chapter and have a very stable geneseed from what has been observed to date. They have all 19 of the original implants. No noteworthy signs of physical corruption have been observed, however they appear to carry the psychic curse that all sons of Sanguinius. This was a particularly disappointing fact for the Mechanicus Adepts who chose Lamenters to sire the new chapter. They had hoped that by taking the purest of the genetic samples that they submitted they would cure the Red Thirst and the Black Rage in the foundling chapter as it had originally appeared to be cured in the parent chapter. It turns out instead, that they appear to have passed on their ill luck, as well as the genetic legacy of their primarch. Battle cry By the emperor we serve! NightrawenII
Well, it seems like you didn't receive much responses. So there I go. B) Disclaimer: I'm rough-grit critic and I'm often dismissive and obnoxious to the point of being rude. All of my responses are my personal opinions and therefore you shouldn't take them too seriously. Origins It is rumored that the Mechanicus have significant investments in the sector and wanted at least one marine chapter based in the Phemos system and used their influence to ensure that the new marines were directed to the system. - I said it today in other topic, and I'm going to say it yet again. Why wouldn't the Admech petition HLoT for scions of Ferrus Manus? The Disciples original actions took place during the Damocles crusade against the Tau. - The Damocles Crusade was in 742.M41, four years after 26th Founding. Your Chapter was at full strenght around 850.M41. Hmmm... -_- Home World Those garrisoning the world are primarily local PDF and the first Imperial Guard regiment founding for the planet, the Phemos First, occurred on 990M41 due to the new higher Tithe levied against the world as it flourishes under the Disciples leadership. - The Astartes homeworlds are subjects of Aptus Non = no tithe. - What has this anything to do with the Chapter? They are constantly striving to find new technologies that can more efficiently run their machines... - Techno-heresy. Please report at the nearest techno-temple of Mars to receive punisment (read, turning into servitor) for the crimes against the Machine-God and his children. Phemos IX is a forge world, which is constantly pumping supplies out to the varying armies on the eastern fringe. - Having ForgeWorld, with its Titan Legion and regiments of Skitarii, and Space Marine Chapter in one system is unnecessary overkill. - Second, anything what can kill ForgeWorld dead, can kill Space Marines Chapter dead without much problems. - Third, the roman numerals behind the planet's name suggests their order from the system's star. Now, look at planets in Solar system. - Again, what has this anything to do with the Disciples? <_< The Disciples have established a Fortress Monastery on the smallest of Phemos VII's three moons. - Just curious. Where do the Disciples get their recruits? Surely not at that agriworld?!? Beliefs Often the chapter will employ significant forces to save even the smallest number of their comrades, believing, contrary to imperial doctrine, that the sacrifice of the few is not justifiable for the greater good (which has caused conflicts with other Imperial commanders on numerous occasions). - Nice, but doesn't work. The imperial doctrine is not about: "Let's sacrifice others for betterment of the rest." but "Holy :cuss !! Kill that thing or we are all screwed!" It's either one for all or all for one. No other choice exists. That's the bittersweet irony of Imperium. It's not like that because it's the best solution, but because it's necessary solution. Do you know why there are no idealists in W40k lore? Because they are already dead or corrupted by the vile powers of Chaos. Gene seed The Disciples are descended from the Blood Angels via the Lamenters Chapter and have a very stable geneseed from what has been observed to date. - Lamenters don't have any official descendant. Overall: This is article about Space Marines without Space Marines, so to speak. Reread the article and you will see that for yourself. On similar note, there is very few tidbits truly unique to the Disciples. Considering, this is product of what?... Six years of development with no significant progress in between drafts, then the result is quite.... embarassing. Have a nice day, NightrawenII. NightrawenII
On similar note, there is very few tidbits truly unique to the Disciples. Considering, this is product of what?... Six years of development with no significant progress in between drafts, then the result is quite.... embarassing. Thank you for the truly productive feedback. I am sure that part of your post was completely necessary and am glad you decided to contribute. Well, like you have had the pleasure to discover, I'm quite snappy and bitchy commentator and I take my time to read all previous attempts of the DIYer, to better understand his intentions [*gasp* Surprising, I know. :P ]. So you can very well imagine my astonishment, when I have came across this: Origins The chapter is a 26th founding chapter. They were founded using Ultramarine Gene seed and are only recently reaching full fighting strength. Rumors persist that the Adeptus Mechanicus representative to the High Lords of Terra was the primary reason forces behind a founding being generated in this sector, though some point out that the High Lords would have founded a chapter in the region regardless due to the massive hive fleets invading the region. Rumors have it, that the forge world in the system is one of the few that still can produce many of the components of terminator armour, which of course, would explain their extreme desire to keep this planet well protected. Officially, however, the Disciples were founded in the region to help pacify the rampant Orks, and stymie the Tau's expansion, as well as assisting in the resistance against the tyranids that are invading that sector. Fortunately for the Tau, the 13th black crusade started before the Disciples were fully equipped and much of their resources were re-routed to Cadia, which hampered the Disciples' ability to bring the fight to them until they brokered a deal of some fashion with the Imperial Navy command in the sector, who then offered to take them to the enemy and provide logistical and air support to the Disciples until The Emperor's Mercy (the Disciples' newly commissioned battle barge) and it's Thunderhawks were available to them. Recent actions have shown them to be a worthy successor to their Primarch's gene seed and they have proven an invaluable force in keeping the region from being lost to the light of the emperor. Home World Phemos VII is an agriworld with a few mining facilities, however due to the proximity to the Damocles Gulf and the Tau home worlds there is a concentration of Imperial troops stationed here to keep the Xenos at bay. These troops are primarily local PDF and large numbers have been mobilized to the area lately. This outlook makes them naturally prone to using renewable technologies, such as lasguns, for home defense against the few remaining natural predators that roam the planet’s verdant surface instead of the normal solid slug weapons you find on most imperial worlds. She has been a reasonably popular choice to date, however the planet's cartels have begun to become very concerned with her lack of military experience and the looming threat from the Tau whose borders have expanded to include systems nearby. She is currently relying on the military experience of the recently retired Phemos 18th's commander Velious Voke, for the majority of her military decisions. There are a few guard regiments stationed on the planet, primarily in relatively strategic areas in the mountains, easy to defend and that restrict ground access to varying parts of the planet. Many of the bases that the guard are stationed at have been constructed from the remains of a prior civilization that once lived here, due the lack of resources from the Imperium due to the 13th crusade. They have been deemed necessary due to recent Tau activity nearby and the likelihood of them attacking this region in the near future and the governor is willing to overlook the origins of these convenient ruins and has outfitted them with many upgrades using standard Imperial tech. An Adeptus Mechanicus Techpriest detachment has been dispatched from the nearby planet Phemos IX, to assess the structures for further use. The Adeptus Mechanicus maintains a strong presence in the planets Phemos IX and Phemos I. Many ships pass by it each day, not even realizing that there is a heavily armed and armoured defense station embedded in the rocky surface of the moon. The hope is, during an attack, it can be used to surprise the enemy, firing at them from behind once they have passed by the moon, thinking it is a target of no strategic value. One whole wing of the Disciples Fortress Monastery is dedicated to healing and spiritual worship. It is here amongst the wounded that the Disciples are trained in the arts of healing and the faith in humanity and the Emperor that the Chaplains instill in them. Organization The Disciples follow the majority of the Codex Astartes very closely, and having been trained by the Ultramarines consider it extremely important religiously. They use standard ranking structure, master selection and company markings as per the codex. The only major divergence in the chapter is the armament of veterans due to their beliefs and desire to preserve lives. Beliefs The Disciples are a benevolent chapter, believing that each person has potential to lend great weight to the Imperium and will do nearly anything to save Imperial lives. They believe in the holiness of the Emperor, if not the divinity. They believe in the Manifest Destiny of Humanity, and will stop at nothing to achieve those goals, destroying any who would oppose such a glorious goal. They value the lives of the humanity that they were created to protect, yet believe that only the Emperor is worthy of serving. The Inquisition has yet to find any actual evidence of heretical activity due to this belief, but they will pounce on any they find. Because of this belief many of their veteran sergeants are given narcethiums and reductors on the field and trained in the way of the apothecary. Every marine’s life is invaluable to the chapter, and when a marine dies, their gene seed must be harvested, so that their most potent warriors lives are never wasted. There is nothing more evil to the Disciples than traitor space marines, who use this gift to battle against the Imperium. Gene seed The Disciples are descended from the Ultramarines and have a very stable geneseed from what has been observed to date. They have all the standard organs that Ultramarines do. No noteworthy signs of mutation or divergence have been noted. Battle cry By the emperor we serve! History The chapter only recently founded, and immediately after they achieved a reasonable fighting strength (4 battle companies at full strength) a full company of marines was requisitioned into the service of the Inquisitor Augustus of the Ordo Xenos. After a few campaigns under this service these marines were inducted into the Deathwatch due to exemplary performance fighting the Tyranids of the splinter hive fleet of Tarasque. The main chapter's initial deployment was to the world of Kovat. This initial deployment was before many of the chapter's vehicles were prepared and this caused the chapter to develop a natural adeptitude for targeting the weak points in enemy armor, compensating for their initial lack of vehicular might. and this: OriginsThe chapter is a 26th founding chapter. They were founded using Ultramarine Gene seed and are just recently nearing full fighting strength. They are a little behind on receiving their full allotment of equipment however, and to date are very short on vehicles and wargear. This has caused the chapter to avoid protracted battles on the ground where vehicles are necessary and to be more of a supportive role in battles where their excellent infantry can change the course of a battle, or fleet actions where boarding parties are needed. Home World Phemos VII is an agriworld with a few mining facilities, however due to the proximity to the Damocles Gulf and the Tau home worlds there is a concentration of Imperial troops stationed here to keep the Tau from taking even more of the Imperial worlds nearby, though these are primarily local PDF or Guard levies. She is currently relying on the military experience of the recently returned Phemos 18th's commander Velious Voke, for the majority of her military desicions. There are a few guard regiments stationed on the planet, primarily in relatively strategic areas in the mountains, easy to defend and that restrict ground access to varying parts of the planet. Most of the bases that the guard are stationed at have yet to be fully brought to standard function and capacity due to the lack of resources from the Imperium due to the 13th crusade. They have been deemed necessary due to recent Tau activity nearby and the likelihood of them attacking this region in the near future, and an attempt to finish outfitting these is currently being undertaken by the an Adeptus Mechanicus Techpriest dispatched from the nearby planet Phemos IX, who has been 'added' to the Phemos 18th's official roster, but is in reality being used by all of the local regiments. The Adeptus Mechanicus maintains a strong presence in the plants Phemos IX and Phemos I. Phemos IX is a forge world, who is constantly pumping supplies out to the varying armies on the eastern fringe, and is rarely able to assist the people of Phemos VII due to Aministratum edicts. Phemos I is a industrial curiousity for the imperium, and many rare crystals can be found there. This includes, it is rumoured, the psionically resonant crystals used in force weaponry. Organization The Disciples having been trained by the Ultramrines follow the Codex Astartes and adhere to it religiously, and are filling all the appropriate ranks as soon as they are available to do so. Beliefs The Disciples are.. about as nice as psychos who is psychopathic genetically engineered killing machines can be. They believe in the holiness of the Emperor, if not the divinity. They believe in the Manifest Destiny of Humanity, and will stop at nothing to achieve those goals, destroying any who would oppose such a glorious goal. They value the lives of the humanity that they were designed to protect, yet believe that only the Emperor is worthy of serving. Respect is given to those who are elder to themselves, all others must earn it. Often times they will employ significant forces to save even the smallest number of people believing, contrary to imperial doctrine, that the sacrifice of the few is not justifiable for the greater good (which has caused the Inquisition to take notice of my chapter of late). After all, every man, woman and child can make a difference, if someone had decided to 'sacrifice' the emperor in an engagement before he came of his own, humanity would have long since fallen. Because of this belief many of their veteran sergeants are given narcethiums and reductors on the field and trained in the way of the apothecary. Every marines life is invaluable to the chapter, and when a marine dies, their gene seed must be harvested, so that their most potent warriors lives are never wasted. This belief also carries onto the battlefield in their training on targeting and target priority. Partially due to their own lack of decent numbers of vehicles, vehicles (most especially those with ordnance weaponry) are prone to being the greatest threat to the chapter's infantry and the chapter specially trains squads to prioritize and neutralize these threats.
