Chaos space wolves

So, I want to start a space wolves army but I have far too many marine armies already and I want to go for chaos too.

My idea is to make a chaotic wolf army, the plan being that I can play them either as space wolves (albeit spiky bloody ones) or as chaos.

I have a few questions.

Firstly do you think that when I'm playing chaos I could retain any wolfiness rules wise?

Secondly color scheme. One of the reasons I want to start a wolves army is that I really like SW Grey but I'm worried it doesn't really work as a chaotic color. Any ideas on a chaotic color scheme around SW grey?

Lastly I had an idea for the hq (based on bjorne the hq dread) I thought it might be cool to model a dreadnought space wolf which had been through the warp and wolfified, ie it would be really bestial. I'm thinking a cross between a juggernaught of khorne and a dreadnought with a big wolf head sticking out. Also I think it would be on all fours. I don't have a question as such I just was looking for feedback and suggestions.

Thanks

but you do know that chaos space marine warbands made out of SW grand companies are all totaly fluffy thanks to the great Gav Thorpe and his latest chaos dex ?

Any ideas on a chaotic color scheme around SW grey?

If pre heresy blue white WE can be made to look good as chaos , so can grey SW. Depands on the fluff. Warband went khorn , chipped armor blood splatered everywhere , skulls on chains etc Warband went tzeench more cloaks , ravens/familiars around models/bases . Rune tattoted/painted on faces/armor . If nurgle horror show army . Were heads if no helmet is on , "extra" armor in form of WFB shields[wooden ones are good for that] . slany is tricky to do , but you must remember that unlike what most people think slanessh is not the good of sex, drugs and r'n'r . He is the god of over the top stuff. So huge weapons , if Storm shields then the size of tower shields [with spikes and wolf pelts and runes green stuffed on them] , huge thunder hammers , bolters made longer to look like they are sniper weapons [the slanny SW dont want to just kill dudes , they want to kill them in style] . If RocketLaunchers for long fangs then 4 barreled ones [loot your chaos friends to get those] .

You can realy make a nice army with chaos SW the wolf + something combination most of the time looks realy nice , specialy if you have some green stuff skills.

Ugh, I was truly grateful when my buddy dropped his chaos wolves, especially since it meant most of our games were no longer space wolves codex vs space wolves codex.

But honestly, you can make it look cool, bit we always draw the line that you can't combine rules sets. So no you can't use some sw rules with the chaos book imo. I know that the chaos book is near terrible now, but the next one is rumored to he 6-8 months away right now. Problem with mix/matching codex rules is you can make something very unbalanced. I've seen it before where, in our group, we love dluff and making up unique combos, so we tried the mix/match and at first thought it was cool, only to end up with some very frustrated people.

Oh, and BURN THE HERITIC!

You could always go the Dornian Heresy SW route. That book is floating around this site somewhere, and has received pretty good response all around.

But I'd also say no on the mixing codex rules. A little longer should see a CSM dex worth a damn on the shelves again, though.

So long as you dont mix the rules, you're fine. As for wolfiness, regular chaos space marines with icon of khorne and two special weapons end up looking a lot like grey hunters, just not as efficient in points. Chaos dex doesn't really have a Bloodclaw equivalent, but you could make some wulfen models and use the berzerker rules. Just some suggestions.
