On the first day of Christmas....

I thought that was only on one shoulder pad he had the iconography on?

Sigismund's armour was black with white pauldrons and the templar iconograhpy that dipected his personal symbol, although i can't remember if it was the entire Imperial Fist first company or just Sigismund's personal squad that copied his colour scheme.

The Primarchs anthology artwork shows that Dorn is still being depicted along the lines of John Blanche's sketch (featured in HH:CV) and all of the descriptions of his armour so far depict it as burnished brass/gold (putting me in mind of the armour the Custodes are depicted wearing).

Aye, Dorn has always been depicted as having a kind of burnished golden armour.

Looks like Fists boarding an Iron Warrior ship, seeing as Dorn took the Phalanx to Terra with him, but Sigismund might be the leader of the attack as he was in command of the Fist expedition.

I can't find anything about Sigismunds armour except that he was given new armour when he became the EC but i always thought he had standard IF armour/colours apart from his personalised pauldron?

He was described as having black armour and white pauldrons - basically what the Black Templars look like.

It seems it might be a common thing for a Legion's second in command to wear his own personal heraldry, or the heraldry of his command. Like Sigismund and his command, not sure what his command was called, wearing the colors that would become the Black Templars, and Abaddon and his elite Justaerin (not sure of exact spelling) wearing what would later become Black Legion norm during the Luna Wolves days. One can assume that there were certain . . . differences in Legion colors between Great Companies that would eventually carry over to the 2nd Founding Chapters. Stands to reason that the seconds in command would get more leeway in this sort of thing, as Abaddon and Sigismund go to show. I seem to recall something similar among the Thousand Sons, having heraldry specific to their respective psychic schools, and the group that the First Heretics focused on had slightly different colors than the rest of the Word Bearers, didn't they?

First things first merry merry ladies and gents.

Cool pic but then we knew it would be anyways. Nice to see the fist with some "life" to them.

Now I want to know if the art in painted or etched since the fist love to scrimshaw bone etched armour dose not seem that out there.

Nice to see the fist with some "life" to them.

Erm....

I pieced together the advent calendar so I have it with no text at 3000×2205. Is it OK to link to it here, or would the forum rules forbid that as intruding on Black Library territory?

PM me a link!

Such an awesome picture for cover art.

Life as in heraldry and armour ornamentation. There not stone men after all.

To address the side discussion on Sigismund's armour, there has been some information posted that conflicts with the official sources I've seen. From Horus Rising pages 128-131 (skipping all of the irrelevant text)

Loken stiffened as three figures descended the ironwork screw stair into the room from the gallery above. The first two were Astartes of the Imperial Fists, almost glowing in their yellow plate. The third was much larger. Another god.

Rogal Dorn, primarch of the Imperial Fists, brother to Horus.

...

The two Astartes who had escorted him down from the gallery came over to wait with the Mournival. They were well known to Abaddon, Torgaddon and Aximand, but Loken had only yet seen them indirectly aboard the flagship. Abaddon introduced them as Sigismund, First Captain of the Imperial Fists, resplendant in black and white heraldry, and Efried, Captain of the Third Company...

So according to this passage, Sigismund's armour was yellow, with his heraldry (the shoulder pads and perhaps a few other decorations) in black and white.

Perhaps there is some other official source which I haven't read that says that Sigismund wore black armour prior to becoming the Emperor's Champion during the Siege of Terra. If so, could someone please cite it here?

A link to the cobbled-together image is fine, though I expect that Black Library will make the full image available very soon.

Says no such thing.

It mentions the First Company wearing black-trimmed armour (and elsewhere mentions their armour as being yellow), which is quite a different thing to wearing actual black armour, I can see where someone might mistakenly read it as saying they wear black armour, but it doesn't actually say that.

Ah yes so i does - i was convinced the book said Sigismund wore black armour, lol.

I retract my statement. :D

The Imperial Fist leading the charge could very well be Sigismund then. :)

Merry Merry indeed to all

I asked about the pic representing Dorn. Im satisfied that its not, but a little confused that it sparked so much discussion about Sigismund (who's geneseed isnt of Guilliman...Oh tell me Someone thinks that is funny  )

But does anyone have any insight about those ships in the background?

Could someone post an image of the complete picture, similar to how the Apologist and sponsra did a page ago?

Here's a link to where you can download it http://www.blacklibrary.com/Blog/a-christmas-treat.html.

The wallpaper comes in different sizes.

That is an awesome cover. I love the ships in mid battle and... Wait, is that the Phalanx? I don't think leading the charge would be Sigismund (for one BL tend steer away from showing iconic characters except on a few occasions or with Primarchs, and two, I'm pretty sure Sigismund used a sword.

Pretty sure this is the 3rd time of posting, but no its not the Phalanx because Dorn took it to Terra with him ;)

Wow. thats awesome . Definately my favorirte cover so far. I wish the Signus Prime novel cover was as good. Love the combat caught in action. Really looking forward to reading this. Cant wait to read the boarding action scenes. Death and retribution to the traitors! For Dorn and the Emperor!!!!!
