Code Prometheus 676++ ++Home world details: Loryll VII, Moon V [designation: Rhewogydd ] Account written by Magos Explorator Cornwell of the Adeptus Mechanicus under instruction by [information classified]. The ice moon of Rhewogydd orbits the plasma storm plagued gas giant of Loryll VII. By estimates and measurements, its determined the size of the moon is comparable with our holy Terra! Though the gravity seems to be slightly higher than expected. The moon is covered in miles thick ice sheets, its is truly beautiful and exotic to behold from an outsiders view. The moons high speed rotation and orbit has resulted in incredibly high winds that have blasted the very surface of the moon flat and relatively smooth. Attempts to land on the surface has met with unfortunate results. The rotation has had effect on the stability of the moons ice sheets however as it appears there is a liquid ocean beneath the ice. This has resulted in a mock tectonic plate shifting which has had the beneficial effect in terms of colonisation since it has broken up the surface into a network of deep canyons and crevices, some stretching only a few metres in length and depth to the great Blaiddwyn canyon which travels nearly pole to pole along its west-east magnetic axis. These canyons provide sufficient protection from the elements to allow the construction of Chapter 1260 [Hereldric designation: Cyto Burst] Fortress Monastery. Known as the Frost Tower, the Fortress Monastery was designed and constructed by the Artisan Meredith based on the teachings of Rogal Dorn millennia ago. The Frost Tower itself is built on one of the few areas on the moon that harbours a perpetual hot spring and geothermal vent. This combined with the vast and sheltered basin proved to be the ideal location for the fortress. Its foundations delve deep into the ice, some say to the ocean below itself. Metres of composite adamantium and ceremite cover the walls, along with several metres of ice that has built up at its base rising to its first layer makes it a formidable defence that would rival the defences of the mightiest of warships that traverse the void. A great void shield also protects the fortress even further from orbital bombardment and the occasional multi tonne ice drop that occurs from the surrounding ice shelf. As well as the usual compliment of defence lasers, missile batteries and artillery expected of a fortress monastery. The upper layer is ringed by twelve super charged nova cannons capable of targeting and destroying targets in high orbit. All this, combined with the natural environment means that besieging such a stronghold would take untold numbers and specialised equipment. ++ ++Chapter details++ The Chapter was formed as part of the 26th founding, though details on there gene-seed originators is unknown and highly classified. From its early beginnings, the chapter has had close ties with the Adeptus Mechanicus. Particularly those stationed on one of the neighbour moons of Loryll VII whose constant supply of inert plasma has led the chapter to favour the use of plasma weaponry. This combined with the chapters innate ability to maintain and manufacture there own equipment has led to them keeping a remarkable stock of wargear for a young chapter. What is curious is the chapters suits of tactical dreadnought armour and there surprisingly high number of venerable dreadnought's. This has led to speculation that some of the equipment and resources were 'donated' by another chapter. For an adeptus astartes chapter, the Cyto burst's are surprisingly social in a similar way tot he Salamanders being more 'humanitarian' than most other chapters. Often using there own fleet ships in system patrol alongside the local Imperial fleets. Envoys from the chapter would visit the nearby Loryll prime. A heavily forested world in the process of deveolpment into an industrial hive. The Cyto burst's use this world and there workforce as a source of recruitment were great fayres are held, and scout company chaplains apothacaries and librarians choose the best and brightest of young boys, with the use of stringent examination and feats of strength, will and faith, who would then be apprenticed to the an Astartes whilst performing there traiing, more testing and implanting. The Cyto bursts are unusual in there chapter organisation. Command of the chapter is split between four of the highest ranking members of the astartes who do not command a company themselves. They and the company captains form a council, headed by the chapter master who has the final decision in matters of the chapter and any actions it takes. What is more unusual is the 9th company, comprised almost solely of the chapters vehicles and there crews. From there bikes and landspeeders to the mighty landraiders, of which they favour the redeemer for its ability for close quarter assualt and fire fight potential. They also care for the well being of the chapters dreadnought's and serve to maintain the chapters armouries. This has specialised the company to the extent that the vehicle crews excel at the operation of there vehicles and there maintenance, almost becoming a smaller scale version of a techmarine in knowledge. ++Organisation++ +Chapter Master+ Leofric Helmhammer +Master Apothacary+ Llewellen the scared +Master Chaplain+ Gerwyn Venerate +Master Libarian+ Gerald the wyerd +Master of the Forge+ Goibhniu the striker +1st company++2nd company++3rd company++4th company+ +The Drakes+ +Battle+ +Battle+ +Battle+ +5th Company+ +6th Company+ +7th Company+ +8th Company+ +Battle+ +Battle+ +Reserve+ +Reserve+ +9th Company+ +10th company+ +Mechanised+ +Scout+ ++Attached: Chapter colours++ http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo154/GauBanandFriends/CytoBurstMarinesBanner.jpg ++End of report++ [[might be writing a story with these guys]] [[edited so it reads a bit better]] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243363-cyto-burst-index-astartes/ Share on other sites
Demus Ragnok
Twelve nova cannons. Who wants this ice moon so bad that they need that kind of hardware to defend it. I don't think a steady supply of plasma is the source of a general smal supply of plasma weapons in the imperium. I think it has more to do with the loss of the knowledge to build the weapons. There is more I'd like to comment on but I'm too tired right now. Okamik
There is a reason for the 12 nova cannons, though i havnt got into that yet. as for the supply of plasma vs the avilability of the weapon, it makes sense that the constant close supply of plasma would enable them to field more of the unstable weapons, and with an adeptus mechanicus base specialising in plasma being only a few moons away then the supply of plasma weapons wouldnt be an issue either. they may not be mars manufactured, but they would still be able to be 'mass produced' in some fashion. The knowledge to build the weapons was newver lost, though it is limited to a small percentage of the Mechanicus. What is lost i think is a plasma weapon that wont try to kill you everytime you fire it  please feel free to comment and critique! this chapter is still in development at the end of the day and hope to flesh them out more with a few stories should i get time. Lord Heremes
the final sentence of your first paragraph reads badly in my mind. I think it reads much better if you split your ideas like so These canyons provide sufficient protection from the elements to allow the construction of Chapter 1260 [Hereldric designation: Cyto Burst] Fortress Monastery. Known as the Frost Tower, the Fortress Monastery was designed and constructed by the Artisan Meredith based on the teachings of Rogal Dorn millennia ago. other then that my only nitpick at the moment is that over the span of time plasma tech has become more and more rare so large scale access to it would be difficult. ill take a longer look at it when i can but so far looks like a good starting point for an interesting chapter, keep up the good work.
