Why Space Wolves will definitely be my next army

Greetings Wolfbrothers

I may currently be a son of the lion, but tonight I embarked upon the discovery of the Space Wolves, and I can safely say the the SW truly are a kickarse Chapter (don't tell anyone on the DA forums I said that  )

I've always been really into Nordic mythology and all that, and was even thinking about going back to WFB to make a Viking themed Chaos marauder army.

And then, sparked by an interest in the SW colour scheme (it was mainly the Yellow shoulder pads and how it goes with the blue grey) I ventured onto the SW section on the GW website, and realised that all along, it's been the Wolves of Fenris that have been calling me!

I've always admired the space wolves for their stubbornness and love for a drunken brawl, and they've always come off as a very wild and fun chapter, and they fit in awesomely with my interest in Nordic mythology

Plus, being part Irish, I'm very much a lover of ale, and the SW's love for a few pints is definitely an appealing aspect

I used to play BT, so I'm looking forward to again having a ferocious army, that can't wait to get stuck into the enemy and rip them in half.

It's essentially only the fluff, colour scheme and look of the DA that draws me to them.

BT were my portal to 40K, DA are my portal to fluff and good painting, and SW will be my first ever, professionally (and consistently) modelled army.

My painting for DA may be on an almost professional level, but there's still plenty of bad glue jobs, missing bitz and out of date, out of place models and a sore lack of conversions, for which there is little need anyway.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself, my DA army is barely finished, I still have tonnes of stuff still left to buy, and I can only pray that I don't abandon it early to take up the wolves.

I actually have a bunch of SWs given to me by someone who used to play 40K in the very early days, who has now moved onto a whole different spectrum of wargaming. They're 1st or 2nd ed. so I wouldn't field them in my army, but now I've got the answer to a question I used to ask myself since he gave me the models "Why the heck are these Space Wolves?"

but finally, it's always been the humour of SW players that I've loved the most, even from my early BT days, and I'm glad to see that this is perpetuated on the B&C, this looks like a great and very fun forum, and it's the antics I've witnessed in this forum that were the final deciding factor that made me want to pick up the mantle and become a Wolf of Fenris.

So yeah, I shall remain with the unforgiven until I have 'finished' my army, but I can hardly wait to buy the Dex, a pot of SW grey and my first wolf pack box and get started making some kickarse, awesome figures for a kickarse, awesome chapter, and as such I'll probably be hovering on these forums untill I can get fully stuck in and become a true wolf brother.

Aye! Youll be very welcome to drop those dress-wearing knight-wannabes and join us at the fang!

(My 40k story is similar to yours btw, I was introduced via BT, then I used my friends DA, until I got my hands on the previous SW codex!)

Welcome to Fang lad, have an ale on me. You aren't the first dress wearing girl (a keg to the whelp who gets that reference) to join up. Why our own Iron Priest Firenze, writer of sagas and basher of xenos, started life as a pansy son of the Lion. Make yourself known in the Inglorious Brawlers thread, post some army lists/pics, and again, welcome!
I find Brother Tengo's words...disturbing.

Needless to say, I shall be having a conversation with a chaplain about his behaviour.

Well if hes coming to the Fang we'll have his back if you wanna try to do anything

Alright a fight now wheres the ale

Fear not brother, my allegiance has not wavered, I am still a loyal servant of the Lion.

Our cause is not endangered, and I still commit myself to it's fulfillment, the fallen will never cease to fear the sons of the lion under my command, I just need to enlist the aid of some very capable and worthy help so that I can fight off all the other xenos, eagerly awaiting death at my hands, and my unforgiven can focus on their true mission.

I'll overlook the dress comments and put it down to banter, I'd rather share a flagon or four than my blade :D

cheers for all the drinks kadsm nych apprecuatedm the sane ti yiy abd nabtm nabt nire"

(Sobriety translation: "Cheers for all the drinks lads, the same to you and many, many more!")

Brother Forte, only a Wolf of Fenris could get away with making such a caution to me, but ofcourse, I'll respectfully and humbly abide, I seek to make no enemies here.

However, after a few pints, it'll inevitably turn into a brawl, as I try to convince y'all in futility, that the robe maketh not the marine and that the knights of Caliban are no pansies ;]

Thanks for welcoming onto your forums, it looks like I'll have a fun time here, Be sure to expect me to be in the thick of any Lion v Wolf threads with my open mindedness, balanced opinions and overwhelming powers of reason and logic, not that all that means much on the internet, or indeed a Space wolf forum (That's my getback for the dress comments ;))

and ofcourse, for those who've asked, I'll share photos of my models when they're done, but be warned, I'm not digging the Ginger hair, or the crazy hairdos, Scandinavian blonde methinks ;]

Until then, does anyone want to see some pictures, (iPhone quality I'm afraid, I'm a 'Professional' photographer, without a camera atm =[) of the really old Space wolves that I have in my possession? for that passionate nostalgia that you just can't beat. If so, I'll post 'em.

Well we all know you'll be at war with yourself constantly. Grow a manly beard and have some fun on one hand. Castrait yourself and wear dresses on the other.....

And one day, you'll thank your inner wolf for shreading your linen and marking tour territory in a proper fashion. Until then, you'll have to get used to the banter ;)

He will be ok... I play the love triangle... with SW and DA armies at roughly 7K and a smaller but still growing 1kson force XD
