TheDVoid
Steel Skulls Founding: The Steel Skulls were formed during a period of turmoil during the latter part of M33 by Imperial Edict, Orks ran rampant through out the Galaxy and a new Chapter of the Emperors Elite was needed to help defend the galactic center a region rich in materials and precious ores. Due to the large number of Forge Worlds under threat by the green tide it was desided that the Gene-Seed of Ferrus Manus would be the most appropriate due to the Iron Hands close ties with the Adeptus Mechanicus. Homeworld: The Steel Skulls took the Planet of Arol as there homeworld, found within the Socoras System, found within Segmentium Ultimus close to the Galactic heart. The System has three suns thats gravitys cause constant solar flares between them making for only one safe passage in and out. Out of the five planets of the Socoras System, only Arol is inhabited being the closest to the Solar Gate it has lower levels of radiation and a breathable atmosphere. Arol is a Feudal Minning World the planet being split into 9 continants by vast oceans. The planet like the rest within the system are locked in position, never moving and never rotating due to the gravity of the three suns. It feels no touch of night for it is eternally coated in light from the great balls of fire that protect it. The populace of the planet dig deep into the planets crust creating a web of tunnels which provides the natives with travel between continents and ores with which to work. To the west of the Planet lies a great Mountain Range known to the locals as the Gates Guardians for their lofty peaks reach for the Solar Gate. It is within these mountains that the Steel Skulls Fortress-Monestary known only as the Forge sits, within the greatest of these mighty mountains. It is said that any foe aiming to breach the Solar Gate would survive only long enough to witness the great reach of the gate gardians as Orbital Defence Guns fire from the crest of each mountaintop. History: The Steel Skulls have combated the ork menace for millenia around the galactic hub, breaking the back of many a Waargh but none so great as the Liberation of the Forge World Turia and the Shattering of Waargh Snazzgut a mighty Big Mek who lead his boys to Turia with one thing in mind to claim the Titan Legion there. The Adeptus Mechanicus Skittarii were swiftly pushed back to the walls and forced to make a last stand in defence of the Titan Manufactoriums as half the Tiatan Legion fell in under a month to Snazzguts howling Gargants. The Steel Skulls on hearing of the Forge Worlds plight sent a full eight companys led by Master of the Forge Aronel to break the siege. Though the planet was heavily blockaded upon arriving the ships of the Silver Skulls punched a hole in the Orks line and after deploying a vast number of Deathstorm droppods to clear a landing area deployed in force, pushing back the green tide long enough for the Skittarii and remaining titans to march foward. Within a year the Waargh had been broken with the loss of their leader at the hands of Master of the Forge Aronel who reportedly lifted the Big Mek above his head with his servo arms and ripped him limb from limb. Apperance: The Steel Skulls utilise a large number of older models of Power Armour favouring the venerable Mark IV and V over the newer models. Like their Founding Chapter they make use of extensive biotics beliveng the flesh to be weak and metal to be pure and strong it is belived within some cirlces that a battle brother must give his right arm to advance to the rank of captain but this has never been verified by imperial officals. Their armour is painted codex gray and black other than their helm and chest which are left unpainted to show their purity of mind and soul. Their left shoulder displays their chaper emblem proudly, a Steel Skull with eyes of fire on a field of Darkness, their right pad shows their company markings as per the Codex Astartes but with their squad markings being displayed in low gothic numerals within the center. Combat Doctrine: The Chapter as their founding chapter before them have close ties to the ADeptus Mechanicus, esspecialy since the campaign on Turia and as such can often be seen fighting along side Skittarii forces. They do not make use of devastator squads in their conflicts, prefering the use of Land Raiders or Razorbacks to provide support fire while they advance into the bloody melee. This is only my starting idea and needs fleshing out but what do you think my honoured battle brothers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243457-my-new-diy-chapter/ Share on other sites
Rylanor
I to am working on my own chapter, but I will give you what advice I can. You have a good idea here, but I think that you may want to make your chapter more unique. I my opinion they seem to be mostly just like Iron Hands. Maybe if you could add something that few other chapters have in chapter traits or in personality. I know it's kinda hard because I'm where your at. But the uniqueness of you chapter is what us going to make it stand out. Hope it helps! Andrew J
Interesting basis for a chapter. Sounds like non-GW Iron Hands with a mix of silver skulls thrown in. Not a bad mixture. My only criticism is that they are not unique enough from the Iron hands to really stand out, unless that is really what you wanted. Either way it would be nice to see a example painted up!
