I just bought these two models

I am going to use the angel as a blood angel (even sanguinius in big apocalypse battles) and I am looking to do a blood red and black theme on him

The Caezar model will be a grand master for my grey knights and I want To try my first ever nmm (other than one or two small blades)

I feel a bit out of my league with these two and any help or advice would be really appreciated.

Also for the blood angel I like the idea of trying to make the red look like enamel. Is there anything cleverer than just gloss varnish to achieve this?

Thanks

Always found that paint job to be inspiring....

Something I have been meaning to do for a while is to try and use some Tamyia Clear Red;

The red on this tank was done by putting a layer of color down similar to chainmail, and then airbrushing several thin coats of tamyia clear red...you could also start with gold and get a more candy red....after the paint dries, add some gloss clear coat on top and your good to go.

Holy mother of...I want to go to there!

That is a seriously gorgeous red. Is there any chance that effect could be done using brushwork instead of airbrushing the red?

A similar (perhaps not quite as pretty) result can be obtained with the viva metallica method... http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...ic+crimson+fist

Just need silver paints for the base and washes, this works better with dark colors like blues or greens...for red might want to try a burnished gold basecoat to start with

The candy red colour can be done using brushes, though I'd recommend a base coat of Mithril silver first.

I've used this on all the sensor and machine spirit lenses on my land raider and it give a really realistic look.

Paint the housing boltgun metal, and the lenses with Mithril silver. When it's dry apply 2-3 thinned coats of tamiya clear red and then a drop of clear gloss - voila!
