Daughters of the Flame as Deathcult Assassins

Looking for an alternative for the GW Deathcult Assassin models, as those become monotonous when wielded in larger groups. One suggestion that pops up every now and then are Privateer Press' Daughters of the Flame. I like the look of the models, as they have 4 different poses and they certainly fit the bill of dual power sword wielding, lithe and agile assassins. And they have a somewhat holy look to them that matches the Grey Knights' purity. Add some purity seals and such to 40k 'em up and should look the part. :D

Now I have never worked with any Privateer Press products, so I was wondering about the quality and the scale of the models. Has anyone worked with these models, or even owns a set of Daughters of the Flame? A picture of a model next to a GW model would be much appreciated. :)

I used to play warmachine, their models are all metal (or at least were when I played). they are pretty decent though you don't get extra bits giving you conversion options.

iirc the models are slightly bigger then GW as are their bases so if you want them to look smaller compared to marines you might have to look further. Though perhaps someone else might have more knowledge on this.

My Death-cult is the Daughters of Flame. They are a good alternative. In comparision to the GW death cultists, the Daughters are a little thicker and also taller. I would say they are very eldar like in their proportions.

While they come in four different poses, getting two duplicates in a box, their arms are seperate so you can form a variety of poses with them looking natural. If you have any Green Stuff skills the world will be the limit. I do not recommend that you mix the PP Daughters with GW Death cults, they look nothing alike and their differing proportions are easily apparent.

That sounds promising. <_< Do you have (or could you take) any pictures of your Daughter models, preferrably standing next to a Grey Knight for scale? I intented to run a squad of 6 so if the models are suitable the box would be ideal. :P

My camera is currently out of state, but once it arrives back home this Monday I will snap some photos of the Daughters of Flame next to a Space Marine, Battle Sister, Imperial Guardsman, and Eldar Guardian. My only Grey Knight is a chopped up wreck.. I haz a hat also, see?

Pictures would be awesome.

What about this bunch (sans helmet) http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1490007 ?

Too much armor/chainmail?

Hmm, probably a little too heavily armoured to pass as lithe agile assassins. Plus you'd have to get replacement heads. Do the dragon scale cloaks come separately or are they part of the armour?

I'm thinking harlequins might be a good counts as stand in for death cult assassins, they've been known to work with the inquisition before, and it especially makes sense if your inquisitor is Ordo Xenos. At the moment I use kroot mercenaries for mine.

Pictures as promised. Took longer to retrieve the camera than I had thought.

A comparison of a Daughter of Flame to the Battle Sisters and Hospitaler:

A comparison of a Daughter of Flame to Saint Celestine and an Imperial Storm Trooper:

Ah, thanks for the pictures Fredegar! :jaw: Seeing as an Imperial Guardsman or Inquisitor model is about as tall as a Space Marine model, the Daughters shouldn't look off, especially considering Death Cult Assassin's probably don't shy away from some genetic modification themselves.

Definitely picking up a box on my next order. ;)
