Brother Ross88
Greetings Brothers, I have been a long time lurker around Bolter and Chainsword, so I've finally decided to post some of my work here. This is the start of my new Death Guard army that I'm building to got to the summer 40k doubles. First up is my Nurgle Lord. He's almost done, but I have the early WiP images. I apologise for the images in advance, as they aren't very good. Early work Middle level work Where the Lord is now The lord still has a few bits needing done to him, will update when I've got more. Please feel free to leave you thoughts and comments Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243604-new-death-guard-army/ Share on other sites

batu
Nice you are shareing your work, its deserves to be showed off  I like your lord, but maybe you could switch the head with a space marine one. That would connect him more with your future force I guess. Brother Ross88
Thanks for the comments! Â batu: I did think of using a CSM helmet but i felt it wouldn't really fit with the rest of the model, seemed a bit odd. Im gonna write some fluff for him explaining the archaic armour. Â there will be some more pics later. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243604-new-death-guard-army/#findComment-2945600 Share on other sites

Brother Ross88
Thanks, I'm really pleased with it, just needs some paint now! Â The main body and weapon is the Nurgle Chaos Lord from the Warriors of Chaos. Standard CSM backpack, cut up shoulder pad and chest piece and the an arm cut off from the top of the elbow for the right arm. Â I had to cut the back bit off the back of the torso to attach the back pack properly so it sat well on his back. Makes him look huge next to normal marines! (There will be pics). Â The cabling is just bass guitar string, a D string I think and bent the string with needle-nose pliers into shape. I used a 2mm drill bit (i think) to make the holes as a 1mm was too small. I them used liquid green stuff to fill it out around the holes. Â The detailing on the main body is great, make less work for my of add additional corruption and rust. Going to use a rust weathering power from FW. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243604-new-death-guard-army/#findComment-2945732 Share on other sites

Got some ideas for him already, Stay tuned! Â Cathar the Great: Glad I could give you some ideas. Can't wait to see what you have planned. Pig Of Sparta
I bought and painted one of these Nurgle Lords when it came out because I loved the mini so much. I knew I wanted to get another one to play with after seeing John Blanche's converted one in this months White Dwarf so I asked my brother to grab me one for Christmas. Seeing what you've done with yours has made me very glad I did and I may even have to pick up another one just so I can really play about with what I think is one of my favourite mini's of the year. Â Back on topic, I really like the the way you've incorporated the Power Armour elements into your Lord, particularly the chest plate, it looks just right. Any ideas on a colour scheme for your army yet? Â Looking forward to seeing more of your work  Â James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243604-new-death-guard-army/#findComment-2945779 Share on other sites
Brother Ross88
Thanks very much! Â It is a great miniature, I'm glad I didn't mess it up. The John Blanche one was epic, it gave me a really boost to see what you can do with it. Â Colours....dunno yet. I've built some tester marines to play around and see how it goes. I'm thinking either faded, muddy and rusted Pre-heresy or just the standard Death Guard colours. Wanting to get the rust and corrosion of the armour the main element of the colours, then focus of flesh afterwards, but keeping the putrefaction of flesh strong. Â Any tips on how to do rotten, sick flesh? Â The next miniature I'm looking to work on next is the FW Nurgle Chaos Marine Sorcerer. I've been eyeing that one up for ages, but I have an excuse to get him now! Araziel
I really like what you've done with this guy, and may well have to "borrow" it from you for my own Death Guard force! I'd really like to see this guy with some paint :D What next for the force? Brother Ross88
Feel free to "borrow" Brother! Â Erm, Hoping for the Nurgle sorcerer and Death Guard upgrade kit from FW for xmas or just after, got some awesome ideas for the sorcerer who I will be using as an Aspiring Champion in one of my squads. Each squad is going to have a heavily converted champion with fluff to go along. Then it will probably be a dreadnought, gonna have fun making that. Â Funds kinda tight at the moment as I'm moving to Cardiff in the new year, so there might not be posts for a while, just as forewarning. daemonclaw
great idea if you wanted a scythe you could cut the blade edge of the axe and turn it sideways Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243604-new-death-guard-army/#findComment-2946172 Share on other sites

I have the FW kits for both Plague Marine's and Terminators, I can vouch that they're awesome. Wouldn't mind a Dread myself, especially as the rumour is they don't suffer from Crazed in the next Codex. Have to see what happens.  Moving to Cardiff aye? That's not actually far from me (well, kinda xD). I live near Aberystwyth on the west coast.
