Canis Majoris
If you put a WL or WGBL on a thunderwolf and put him in a unit of fenrisian wolves as it says you can do, does that mean that as they are independant characters they cannot be targeted by shooting until all the wolves die? Because if thats the case i wanna try out 2 wgbl with a full pack of wolves each :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243651-thunderwolf-with-fenrisian-wolves/ Share on other sites
Jackel
Kinda... Yes, your opponent can only shoot at the combiened unit and cannot target the character separately. However, if enough wounds are done to the unit, some will have to be allocated to the character as per the wound allocation rules in the main rulebook. Hope this helps. G. A. K.
But also remember that wolves have a 6+ save so many will die unless your in cover, forcing a moral check which you could fail :D G Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/243651-thunderwolf-with-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-2946159 Share on other sites
Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
If your looking for ablative wounds, try putting two Fen Wolves with your mounted lord instead. Your chances of failing the lords Ld of 10 are obviously much less that the Fen Wolf pack's 6. I tried out a 10 man, er dog, pack of the wolves a while back. I found that if they get there and can remain locked in combat for a turn or, preferably two, they arent too bad. Cheap if nothing else. It's getting them there that can either be difficult or really hurt the unit. End of Line LIttle confused here since you always test leadership based on the highest leadership in the unit, not majority. You do roll against majority toughness of 4 however, so consider that when allocating any double toughness wounds. toonarmy1987
I ran a wolf lord on thunder wolf the other day and whacked him in a unit of 10 wolves. what is cool is that a unit of fenrisian wolves get to re-roll failed morale tests if with in range of a a thunder wolf cavalry model. so even if they do have to take a test my Wolf Lord lets them re-roll :D I use them as a meat shield to get into combat but once they get there they are a marine stat line (bar the 6+ save) and have a good number of attacks on the charge!! Is it competitive, probably not, but it is fun squad to play with. Marshal Wilhelm
;) I don't add unwanted photos to the TWC minis thread, I thought to put them here in this probably shorter lived thread  For those wanting super Wulfen to represent Thunderwolves, which had been spit balled by at least one person.... I think these are a good representation for that: http://privateerpress.com/files/imagecache/product_image/products/72057_FeralWarpwolfWEB.jpg http://privateerpress.com/files/imagecache/product_image/products/72057_WarpwolfStalkerWEB.jpg http://privateerpress.com/files/imagecache/product_image/products/72057_PurebloodWarpwolfWEB.jpg These are PP minis. Whilst I'd normally not blend the two systems, these minis look good, imo, and don't class with GW styling. Though this is being said without having the PP and GW minis together  The bases are 50mm. Thoughts?
