Chooser of the Slain

Was thinking through chooser of the slain ideas. Not really into the Raven or birds of prey being used. I thought, keeping true to the Nordic tradition of the SW, to try using a Valkyrie. Have you guys come across any good miniatures? At one time, I found a great sorceress/caster mini that appeared to be floating above the base (attached by the cloak) and attaching some Pegasus wings from WH to her. I haven't been able to find the model, so I was wondering maybe my Google-fu is lacking. As it is, I'm thinking of using this for my Valkyrie model (with some customizations to make her distinctly wolfy):

Ideas? Thoughts?

Not sure about your Google-fu, but your B&C Search-fu is certainly lacking, as this topic ran for a while regarding the same issue.

As to the model linked, it's nice.. it'd work for a marvel comic-esque valkyrie.. other than that, I'm more of a GW product-only player. Never preferred mixing models from different companies.

I just got this model and plan to trim off the I's and make him a Rune Priest. I may use the double headed eagle as a chooser model. The new finecast model is awesome in its detail and really easy to convert.

thats what i did.you just need to replace the arm.I say with a bolt pistol.

With that model I would worry about the height restriction of being no bigger than a Marine. Good concept, but probably a little tall for my tastes.

There is no height restriction, taller does not equal bigger.

What is it you don't like about the birds? And how does a woman standing at some random point in the battlefield make any more sense or fit better with the theme... I mean a bird already fits in with the Norse theme and things like cyber eagles exist within the Imperium... also servo skulls and the little cherubs but a fully grown woman is a bit different and random... Not that the model couldn't be cool but I'm not sure it fits better... Personally I would stick with something that can be described as an animal or creature (Mythical or otherwise...).

These are great suggestions, guys. Just so you know, my Rune Priest model is pretty big. I'm use Njal, but not painting him as Njal and doing a little converting so that he's not a special character, just a runepriest. Besides, as far as size restrictions, most of the guys in my league are pretty easy going and I doubt I'd have any problems, and I'm more interested in just painting another cool model and adding a little more flair to the army I'm building.

Wolf and Arez, that's a great model, too. Not bad for a Rune Priest at all. I was thinking of running two RP's in my final army (I'm in an Escalation league) and will keep that model in mind.

Hellios, I just don't like the birds, and I really like the Valkyrie lore of Norse mythology. No reason really beyond that. If you've ever played Valkyrie Profile, that is strong influence on inspiration and character for my army: http://www.rpgfan.com/pics/valkyrie-profil...t-valkyrie1.jpg

As far as fluff is concerned, I'd probably see the Valkyries as more of a psychic presence than a physical cybertronic bird, etc. If I was gonna go animal, I'd probably go with a wolf-type familiar.

so a dude of 7" isn't bigger than a 4" man?

He might be, but we don't have enough information. I'm taller than a lot of men that are easily bigger than me. Clearly, a bird on a stick isn't bigger than a Space Marine, even if he is elevated somewhat.

Perhaps I should have clarified.....I'm using the model Coteaz as a converted Rune Priest. I may convert his arm-mounted eagle into a Chooser of the Slain. I didn't mean to imply you should drop some good $$ on a Chooser model, or that you should use something taller to gain an advantage...
