Warsmith Aznable Posted December 19, 2011 Share Posted December 19, 2011 I have two friends I regularly play with, and this Tuesday we're getting together to play some war games for my birthday. I'm also going to give them their Yule gifts from me. Each one is getting a Devastator painted in the colors of a Chapter they like. My friend Mike is getting this Dark Angel Plasma Cannon Devastator. I chose the Plasma Cannon because of my own Chaos Marine's tendency to blow themselves up trying to plasma his GK Terminators down. It's seriously become a running theme... But this was my first attempt at painting a Loyalist, and I wasn't sure how to go about it. I discovered that I hate Dark Angels Green, for one. I think I'm just going to give him the rest of the paint pot that I bought to do this, too, because I don't imagine I'll put myself through painting this color again. I also discovered that I can't apply a transfer to save my life, but my free-handing isn't as terrible as I thought it would be. Painting the Salamander went much more smoothly. I used Goblin Green with a Thraka Green wash. Much less problematic for me than the Dark Angels Green. Though, in retrospect, I probably should have used black for a primer with the DA Green I guess. I asked him which Codex Chapter he liked and he said Salamanders. I had a Devastators box for parts, and honestly I have no idea what heavy weapons Space Wolves can take, and I didn't have any fetishes or bones or heads with wacky hair, so I just went this route.
