FW Ironclad dreadnought

On impulse I won a last second bid on an Ironclad dread on ebay

It had 3 coats of paint on it and after stripping I had a fairly good mini.

Ive added Furioso arms and claws (with drops removed) and a venerable dread power plant. Ive still got the rocket launchers, smoke launchers and under belly flamers to add so it'll be tooled up when its done.

Heres after the first coat of blue and a quick wash

That could be my trademark just to wind up the "must stay red" brothers.

The truth is Im lazy and just pushed them all as far to each side of the desk as I could to make some space for the photos.

Ive just painted the base so I'll pop some pics up tomorrow unless I get a chance tonight

I spy with my little eye...

2 things:

- a very promising Ironclad

- a conversion of a terminator I also did a while back.

Long story cut short: I wish I had completed the paintjob on my kneeling SH terminator, too ^^

thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing the dread done.

Ive got a chunk of the base done.

Ive picked out and washed all the main colours and the same for the legs. They have also had their initial highlight.

Its about ready for a blast with the airbrush to dust it all after Ive added some battle damage.

Im not sure about the top mounted rocket launchers.

My personal preference would be without the rockets too, HOWEVER;

The biggest thing right now is the state of the rocket pods, with the clean first layers of paint on the rest of the dread I think it makes them look much more awkward than they would fully painted along with the rest of it. So I'll say right now I'm still voting no on the rockets, but maybe you'll want to clean them up and at least slap a nice, even base on them like the rest of the dread, then take another look.

They're also not as huge as the ones on the stock ironclad, and feel more natural, which is a huge plus in their favor if you ask me, so if you do decide to add them I don't think it'll detract anything from the model. Just my two cents anyway.

I agree so Ive spent a couple of hours on cleaning them up and then paining them

they are only blu-tacked on so they arent as close to the body as they will be but Im liking them now.

What do you think now?

Ive had a chance to crack out the airbrush so I thought Id have a go at something Ive been wanting to try which is a graduated effect on lightening claws.

It works well on GK swords so why not on a dreads claws?

I though rather than use blue Id go for red.

Im not sure..... bear in mind Im going to paint the base of the claws boltgun silver and the claw ring blue.

What do you think?
