Aegis Imperialis 3rd Company

I am trying desperately to contain my girlish glee at finally being in possession of a camera which can comfortably take pictures of models.

I will start with a bunch of HQ choices. The big daddy, Chapter Master Nemean Pardus.

He is joined by Epistolary von Walken.

This is my command squad, sans Standard Bearer.

It is led by Captain Huginn Alopex von Striges.

and his trusty second in command, Lieutenant Ambiguously McGermanname.

Quite like these. Nice colour scheme and I love it when they are named, even Lieutenant Ambiguously McGermanname!

Really nice use of the Emperor's Champion model. Though I can't place his backpack. Is it from the Sisters of battle? Really cool either way.

Hope to see more of your work.

Hello again! The backpack on the good Captain is indeed from a Sisters of Battle Canoness, which, on the GW website at least, now appears to be supplied with a 'randomly selected backpack', which is a bit of a shame. It's smaller than the SM equivalent and sits quite high on the model but I actually quite like the effect, and the braziers frame the head quite nicely, at least when you haven't apparently bent one of them. And thank you very much for the kind words! Taking pictures has made me notice dozens of flaws I had no idea existed. It's very frustrating.

I'm away for the holidays but thought I'd include some piccies of Honoured Brother Faust. He has a fondness for ludicrously difficult to paint gothic script and questionable weapon combinations.

girlish glee

Wait, what's wrong with that? B)

The Emperor's Champ really stands out to me, I think mostly because of how much White is showing. The backpack swap is a tiny touch that makes a big difference

The Apothecary is pretty badass as well. :)

Thank you very much. And Apothecary Stoebe! I'm fond of the little chap. A couple of cheeky close ups:

And one of my favourite GW models ever, the Techmarine:

Tanks up next!

Well thank you very much!

Here is my Land Raider, Stormhammer, a venerable tank that has taken part in the most defining battle of my Chapter's history.

Well, thank you very much. I'm afraid I don't get the reference to my website sorry, I haven't linked one AFAIK.

in any case! I tried coming up with a standardless standard, and still intend to do it at some point, but in the meantime the Command Squad now stands complete after a feverish evening.

Close-ups of the standard bearer:

I also made a bit of a start on a veteran squad, led by the trusty Lt Moltke.

I usually give my sergeants thunderhammers which count-as power fists but was inspired by the relaxed pose of a bloke in the cityfight codex which I think is perfect. All the gubbins is how I imagine space marines: a mixture of ludicrously advanced armour festooned in pouches, devotional texts and webbing. The armour is an attempt to mimic the old metal mk VIII armour. This chap:

And their pal:

Cheers!

I think it is the lighting, and I'll have to consider getting a proper lamp at some point.

In the meantime, I've done a random collection of models. Including my first completed combat squad!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadII/CombatSquadI.jpg

Led by Sergeant Ostheim, Spirit of the Third Company:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadII/IISargea.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadII/IISargeb.jpg

And a couple of tricky conversions: a kneeling and aiming marine, before GW just went and made one of each anyway:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadII/II2a.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadII/II4b.jpg

And from my Razorback Squad, Sergeant Adler, with a Mark IV wearing marine checking out his auspex, using the FW model as a guide:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadV/VSargea.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadV/VSargeb.jpg

Newly promoted Sergeant Rabe and buddy:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadVII/VIISargea.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadVII/VII1a.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/SquadVII/VII1b.jpg

And Devastator Sergeant Matthias.

Also, some Termies. The laurels on the sarge's cape cribbed from here, I just stuck an aquila in the middle.

That is a nice mini. Did it start life as a BT champion?

That is the emperor's champion model with a repositioned arm, plasma pistol he attached, and a back piece from something else (maybe sisters of battle?)

  • 1 year later...

I really didn't like how my Chapter Master turned out, and what with the new codex forcing me to have Imperial Fists rules (I have no idea how I'll cope with such badassery) he's suddenly been upgraded to a Lysander proxy. Reintroducing Nemean Pardus. I couldn't bear to shave him.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/ChapterMaster/PardusA.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/ChapterMaster/PardusA2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/ChapterMaster/PardusB.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/SchmittVanDean/AegisImperialis/ChapterMaster/PardusC.jpg

With the release of the Dark Angel Paladin kits I am so ridiculously tempted to swap out his shield for one of theirs, (I was somewhat gutted to note they come complete with arm; I'd have to see how each one fits the look of the model) but I kind of like the idea of his having inherited the suit from the Imperial Fist Captain who served as the chapter's first Master and therefore have it covered in IF iconography. Probably some bloke called d'Arquebus.
