So I want to have a second gk librarian available to me and I was wondering how I would go about having one. Simply reposing the same gw model doesn't seem right. Any thoughts about what I would need to do to make a converted Libby stand out as one. Cheers.

I didn't like the regular GW Librarian model, as he wears a regular suit of Terminator armour instead of the Aegis Terminator Armour Grey Knights wear. So I just made a Librarian (and Grand Master, for that matter) out of the plastic GK Terminator kit.

 

I picked out the items that have book iconography (torso, legs, tilt shield, paladin back banner in shape of a book, stormbolter with book icon and an extra book on his belt) and added blue details such as a stripe on his loincloth, the handle of his Warding Stave, blue books, etc) and posed him like he was casting something.

 

That combined with the fact that he's one of the few unhelmeted models in my army makes him stand out well enough, while still tying in his look with the rest of the army.

I also agree that the GW librarian doesn't do too well for us. If I made a libby for my Greys, it would be a termie body with some paladin bits like RedemptionNL said, and maybe a hooded Dark angel head because that gives them a distinctive/secrety/forbidden knowledge look that just screams Librarian to me.

 

PS: most people can also tell by the warding stave, since noone else usually needs one as much as a Librarian does :P

I imagine this method would work just as well using GK PA in place of the more conventional SM equivalent.
