Tebowing Black Templar

For some reason this image struck me this morning while I was commenting on another thread. He went together pretty quick.

It seems only appropriate that he be a Black Templar.

Looking good so far. Nice posing however I think if you really want him to stand out as a templar maybe replace the chainsword with a power sword and have him holding it with both hands on the hilt and the blade pointing down? That way it'll seem like hes in prayer on being blessed by a chaplain. Just a thought mate.

Really nice posing there. What would be really awesome as a diorama would be to put him in a chapel of some kind with a procession of cenobytes and maybe a Chaplain approaching carrying the equipment of the Emperor's Champion, Black Sword, etc.

Actually, the cenobyte with the Imperial eagle over his back would look very cool with the sword instead.

Been thinking about the tabard and agree that it would be a good addition, so I'll give that an attempt. Also, a friend suggested that he should really be holding a melta bomb (i.e. football), which is probably historically accurate ;) , but I like the chainsword as is. So I think I'll just put on on the base near him. I probably ought to put a helmet on there as well.

Suggestions as to helmet type?

Also, I rather like the idea of some others standing around him. I'll have to give that some thought.

@Kierdale: That's pretty awesome, thanx for the tip. ;)

Here's the update with the tabarded Tebow...

I can see where leaving off the backpack would make the tabarding exercise quite a bit easier, so in the event that I embark upon a crusade, I'll have to plan the logistics of that rather carefully.

Anyway, we are back to cool clear skies, so I think I'll get him basecoated. This will be interesting as I don't think I've painted anything since June-July-ish.

Cheers,

I'm enjoying the fact that not many people are getting the reference.

Good looking pose but for reference:

I've always liked the hand to head look.

Also I think he would do well as a Ultramarine from the 6th company(blue and orange!)

P.S. Go Broncos!!!

He looks really good. Looking forward to seeing some paint on him.

But...I just noticed, is that the grip of a bolter/weapon protruding from the bottom of his right hand? If so, better shave that off before painting.
