Chapterhouse Studios Jump Packs and Dragon Rhino Bits

Recommended Posts

So after the rousing success of the Chapterhouse Extend-a-Raven kit I decided to give them some more money.

I bought:

Heresy Marine Jump Packs

Dragon Rhino Door Kit

First the packs, I am using them for my converted Sanguinary Guard. The cast is a bit shabby, definitely rougher than the Stormraven kit, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with GS or covered with purity seals. However, the picture on the site shows cool little "fins" attached to the packs' exhausts, which apparently were too problematic to ship, and so they are no longer included. Which is a shame. I might make my own fins with plasticard.

Secondly the door set, and I'm sure they made a mistake here. My door kit included two side doors with the dragon head facing the same way. Naturally if you stick it on the actual Rhino, you end up with one dragon head looking forward, and the other looking backward. Awkward. And since the doors are textured and studded, they look odd when paired with standard smooth GW doors.

I emailed them about it, we'll see what they say.

Can't say anything really about the JP's but a cursory look at the product page for the side doors shows two doors with the head facing the same way, meaning you got exactly what was pictured on the website.

True, but the description said "two different doors", ya know?

There's a reason the flags on American uniforms and vehicles are all shown with the stars side of the flag to the front of the uniform/vehicle- it gives the appearance that the flag is moving forward.

This issue with their doors is a huge no-go for me.

From the item's description:

This resin kit consist of 3 resin components that fit on the Space Marine® Rhino chassis - 2 side doors and 1 front armor panel.

Doesn't say anything about them being different. ;)

I do agree that it looks a little strange for an emblem that implies movement to be facing the wrong way, but not sure what can be done short of sending the items back if CH takes returns.

As for the JPs it states that they are resin and metal components. Did you have both in the package when you received them? Might have just been a packing error.

Hehe, it doesn't say anything about "different" because I emailed them about it, and the guy got back to me this morning and said that he'd fix the description of the Rhino kit. :) He seems like a nice guy, very responsive and ready to help. He offered a return and refund option, but I kept the kit. I'll just carve the dragon heads out and stick them on two different vehicles over the smooth stock GW door. This way I'll have a dragon-head door on one side and a vehicle name scroll on the other side. Not ideal, but it will do.

As for the packs, here's his response:

Those used to be included with the packs and described in teh description, sadly we found out that they more often then not broke off during use or shipping. Do you wish to return the packs for a refund?

Another case of bad description on the site, and that one he hasn't yet fixed. I kept the packs as well, because they are pretty good even without the fins.
