RebG
Hi gents, and specifically those of you with airbrush experience. For Christmas my dad got a Iwata Revolution CR but it might be a bit small for his needs (smaller but not that small automotive parts) as we later figured out what he really needs is a mini spray gun. I myself was planning to get the Evolution 2in1 from Harder and Steenbeck when I get paid next month. As he might be having to try and exchange it is it worth me considering taking the Iwata off his hands and using that or should I stick with my (long debated) decision to splash out on the Evolution? I realise there won't be many people with both these brushes, but if you own one or the other or have experience with either manufacturers reliability/quality/service/spares etc or even just an opinion I'd like to know while it's not to late to change my mind! Cheers all, and happy new year! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244283-iwata-revolution-cr-vs-hs-evolution/ Share on other sites
Redfinger
I currently have an Iwata, and I am saving for an H&S...I love my Iwata, but that H&S is nice, I have used on a few times and they work nice. Ashton Thanks Mr Ashton Redfinger :) I too have been saving and saving for the H&S for a little while. My heart is kind of set on it but the Iwata is just kinda sat there... Ive got a Revolution CR and its great.Ive bought another smaller needle and its great for detail work The finer needle thing is one of the things that's bugged me - the H&S already comes with an additional needle (though it'd obviously be cheaper buying a needle for the Iwata than the whole Evolution brush. Thanks for the confirmation of it's usefulness though. How'd you find the 'big' cup? I cant remember the exact ones, but last time I looked I think it was like $65.00 worth of parts. And is that size a good 'all roundeR' or better just for detail? Redfinger
I use a .35mm, I am happy with the versatility that I can get out of it. I would love to have a .2mm and I think I would have a lot of use for it if I went that small. I am not sure how effective a .15mm would be, I imagine it would get very little use and the paint would need to be rather thin if I went that small, but I would probably be able to paint the eyes of a mini with a .15 :) . UltraRich
To fit a smaller needle into the CR you need the needle and a needle cap. Total parts cost about £20. This is great for fine lines and shadows on tanks. Its also great for weathering minitures. I havent ever had an issue with the cup. Its big but I only ever fill about the first centemetre if Im doing a big job. Its dead easy to drop a drop of paint in off the brush and then mix in clean water off anoter brush (some people will moan about this but it saves loads of paint.) I then give it a blast through with airbrush cleaner and then its onto the next colour. The best thing is its all metal so you can soak the parts in cleaner to make sure its fully cleaned. It is worth buying some proper cleaning fluid and a set of cleaning brushes.
