Olgerth Istaarn
So for the Gold Wing of the Storm Dragons Chapter, AKA Assault In Your Face component of my army, AKA Count as Blood Angels, I decided to have Sanguinary Guard. The idea behind them is nothing short of awesome: five badasses, no more, no less, wearing artificer armor and wielding BIG DAMN power weapons fall on your head and beat the crap out of you. My problem is that I hate the idea of heroic nudity in Warhammer 40K (and in general); this is the Grim Darkness of the Future, not SPARTAAAAA. Nudity should be left to Dark Eldar (and occasionally, FemGuard); Space Marines of any flavor should not look like a collection of golden statues of naked men. To that end, I filed off the Golden Nipples, the kneecap-suggesting cross indentations on knees and added a few bits to bulk up the dainty waists of the stock Sanguinaries. I ruined one of the torsos in process, so I replaced it with the torso from Sevrin Loth Honor Guard range (truly a kit that keeps on giving). I also gave them Grey Knight helmets, which fit perfectly into the raised collars of the Sanguinary Guard torsos, and gave each mini a much meaner countenance. Finally, I decided not to give them the winged backpacks and opted for Chapterhouse's jump packs instead. At the same time I wanted to give my opponents enough visual cues that these are indeed still SG, so I preserved the left-arm feathered shoulderpad and most weapons. Overall, after all suggestions of nudity were removed, the resulting armor looked like a more advanced mark of PA rather than decorative attire. Here we go. Mind you the photoshoot was pretty quick and dirty, and I'm still in process of fixing miscasts on the backpacks. 1. VAGABOND
Being honest, those jump packs don't really suit the style of armour the Sanguinary Guard have. This just pure personal opinion and I'm not the greatest of fans of the heresy pieces that Forgeworld do.
