Alcatraz's White Scars Project

amazing work here mate. I may start a White scars showcase army sometime int he future. And I was wondering what your recipe for the white is?

Cheers, and keep up the great work! :)

Thanks chief. The white is really simple. I give the models 3 nice even coats of Skull White Spray. Then it's on to the blacklining and all the other details. As my hand is far from steady there will be quite a bit of touch ups. These are just Space Wolves Grey then adding white. After that just a few coats of watered down white and Bob's your uncle. All finito.

It takes a lot of patients at times. In my younger days i would never of tried to do a white scar army either.

Some updates now. Ordered stuff of the GW site on Friday and it arrived today. Happy times

So we got a Tactical Squad, Chaplain and Bike. Also got Ravenwing accessories kit to help make my Biker Chaplain.

Just need to buy a bike squad and will have a usable 500pt force.

Also some more painted marines

Still W.I.P. The grey on the armour is where there be touch ups.

Whenever I see an update of your scars it always makes me feel guilty for not posting one for mine, though I have almost finished my tactical squad, & Land Speeders taking shape.

May have also knocked together a Storm Seer (Libby(, though thats just because I had the bits lying around & I could see the model in my head...

The best result i had with doing white. I prime black, then dry brush shadow grey, then codex grey, and the go white. This is all done with the dry brush technique, Extremely fast. Then for red highlights if you wanna keep it just red, not with the orangey tint. Then go Scrab red, red gore, then highlight with red. it's so the red doesn't look so bright. Also the drybrushing keep the black undercoat in the cracks between the armor.

  • 3 weeks later...

Woah been a while since an update on this thing hey. I've been a busy little model builder that last few weeks. Got all the models built for my 1000pt list now. Had my 1st game in over a year and a half last Wednesday and got a mighty thrashing from a Blood Angels army. Got a game against a chum tomorrow, hopefully i'll fair better this time round. As i've been away there will be a lot of pics going up. Brace yourselves.

Some of the stuff i've built recently

Some Bikers

As soon as I saw the tribal markings on the helmets I was like "Yes!" Hehe great stuff and the furrs from Maxmini give the models that little extra.

I'm not to found of the green... it stands out to strong in a bad way... But thats just my opinion!
