playing against Blood Angels

That's interesting, I didn't think non-vehicles gave cover to vehicles. What are others thoughts on this.

You're right Bart about 3 rhinos being relatively easy to pop and it does strand them a bit, but most armies aren't going to be jump pack / fast tank armies and as fast moving as you. I feel the 3 grey hunter packs give a massive solid core to the army with the bikers and thunderwolves with lord giving the fast, hard backup.

I do need more lascannons though I think, but where to find the points?

Concur on Rhinos getting a cover save from TWC as long as they give 50% Judging on your models it's going to be pretty close, at worst I'd give the Rhinos 5+

In addition, this is probably one of the best 40k tactics articles I've read

Nice one Bart - I will give it a go. I have to say I'm a little trepidatious (nice word ;) ) - as I feel the YTTH guy is waaaay to arrogant for my liking and too much "this is what's best, everything else sucks" ..... but he does know his stuff. I'll let you know what I think.

Yeah interesting stuff. I've used the front rhino popping smoke and the one behind it using the cover - then swopping this formation over for the next round before. I hadn't thought about the way he was stopping assaults with his rhinos though.

The issue with this tactic (which I use against Nids sometimes) is that against you - who is basically playing Eldar army tactics with Blood Angels - keeping my GH together and rushing them to the middle of the board will result in you retreating your forces away, popping those rhinos and shooting the living hell out of them (I know what you're like, you pesky blighter!)

It is all so situational anyway. If it is objective based, then you to have to split your troops anyway. (I am already foreseeing your "last minute predator rush for objectives ... a la Mechdar"). Obviously I need to keep them in support of one another, but it is doubtful I will be able to provide this cover for each other very often.

I would be better with lots of rhino packs and 3 full longfangs with ML and LC, but I just think this is pretty boring (for me. No issue with others playing these lists of course)...

One thing I have certainly learnt though from the last game. If going second, do NOT put your rhinos in front of your LF to negate line of sight. That rhino gets wrecked / disabled and you either have to waste a shooting round moving your LF - or suffer really poor line of sight to everything else. That was definitely "my bad". As I said before though - the board was very poor, with bascially no cover at all on my side. (We had left all our terrain at someone else's house)....... :)
