egon1six
A buddy of mine recently asked how many points of DA I have. My answer:20k on the nose. So the idea was brought up to have a real 40k game. Basically I bring the the kitchen sink and 3 of my buddies match my points. The armies I will be facing: 5k of eldar, 5k of orks and 10k of renegade IG(all on the same team). The battle will take place on a 10' long 7.5' wide table. I have never done this level of points and do not play much apoc type battles. My army consists of 1st Company(6920pts), 2nd Company(4130pts), 3rd Company(3610pts), Inner Circle(745pts) and Armoury Support(4595pts). Questions that are concerning me: is the table size big enough? how many days to play 5 turns? should we use apoc rules? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Interrogator Stobz
Dude, what an epic force, I played apoc with 15k each side on a 6x15' table (heaps of huge terrain, some 6 levels high), it still didn't leave much room to manouver, of course it 'encouraged' a brutal fight, so enjoy. egon1six
Thank you for your compliment Stobz. Eventually I want to build 4th and 5th Companies but will be successor chapters! Terrain will be abundant in some areas of the table and other areas just no-man's land. Vazzy
Wow, with the point allotment I'd recommend a slightly larger table. But you have to take pics or something. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see this. Brother-Sergeant Bohemond
I would use apoc rules and maybe make the table bigger. Anyways, thats an impressive force! Very nice, can you give us pics of your whole force, and after you play (and win) we need pics of said battle and a full report. Other place to check on apocalypse rules is the Apocalypse forum on the BnC. They can answer all the tough questions! I also recommend using various stragems if you can, like the Battle Company and Armoured Spearhead. Captain Semper
I sounds like an impressive force indeed!!! I guess I have to agree with the others that the table would probably be smallish but as the Brother-Sergeant above said do visit the Apoc sub forum here in B&C - you'll probably get more specialised info. It'll be an excellent oportunity to use spearhead formations! But most importantly bring along a camera and take pics! I bet that'll be an awesome battle! Death to the alien and the heretic! I wouldn't be surprised if the leader of the traitor guard wears black power armour with no insiginia on it  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244371-bringing-in-the-new-year/#findComment-2954258 Share on other sites
Tengo
Man, imagine if you were a fallen stranded on a planet, and you suddenly see that many dark Angels land on the planet, you'd need a new pair of PA trousers! I've not got much experience with Apoc. but I'd say that'd be the way to go for such an immense game, otherwise, make sure you have a lot of free time coming up  And yeah, pictures are totally necessaries, there's no way that you can tell us about this proposed game, and not share the pictures of the glory of the unforgiven! Cod
Yes, please post pics. That many angels amassed in one place deserve to be seen. I'm thinking the table may be too small as well, but in the end it won't really matter. Just unleash everything and enjoy it! Brother Immolator
Aliens and heretics united against the righteous fury of the emperors chosen?Bah small potatoes really. I am afraid that if you dont want the game to take an eternity(in any case it will but anyhow)you must use the apoc rules. Also bring in some pics. egon1six
Pics will be taken! Thank you all for you comments! I must apologize for the lack of paint on my army. My goal for this year was to compete 20k army. Next year is to paint it all! This battle will take place over the course of next weekend and will post pics following with a full report. And yes the traitor IG is led by a fallen! The eldar are there for a "unique" power source that is yet to be determined and the orks are just there because they heard all the ruckus! It will be a very themed battle with tons of fluff and all around good times! Isiah
The battle will take place on a 10' long 7.5' wide table. Sounds awesome but I hope you have long arms to reach stuff in the middle :o. Long ago I played a demo Napoleonic historical game on a large table like this – it was a nightmare of knocking models over and standing them back up again, never again :P Cheers I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244371-bringing-in-the-new-year/#findComment-2955063 Share on other sites

egon1six
Ok gents. We had to delay our game till this weekend. Just got finished terrain and intial deployment. Pics will be enroute tomorrow. It looks like I am going against traitor marines with inquisitorial support!(about 12k) with a 3k of orks and 2k of eldar. Some key factors I will be facing off against: two super heavies one stormlord one baneblade, assassins 3 different types, eldrad, and ghaz(re-match for Belial!) I have deployed 3rd company and most of 2nd with armor support on my deployment line. Ive got all of 1st company with the exception of 2 squads in LRC's held in reserve. I am still at a toss-up if I want first turn or let them get first turn. There is about 70'' of dead space right now! Captain Semper
Sounds awesome egon1six!! Look forward for the pics and the report!!! BTW would you consider joining the LPC? We need as many people as possible to join the DA effort and you sound like a committing person (20k points speak for themselves :)). Given that you only have to pledge a single mini (or more it's up to you) to complete until end of March - how about it?
