Snejk
I'd like to add some bikers to my Alpha Legion army, but i don't get turned on by the idea of having greasy bikers in my army, so i was wondering if someone has used them nifty looking WHFB dark Elves Raptor cavalry lizards as bike proxys. And if you have, how have you mounted their Twin linked bolters, or do you just build a twin linked bolter to the riders? And how could I say that the lizards are "super charged" extra Adrenaline glands? Ekim_Trub
IMHO they are to small to be used as mounts, the only reptilian mount that looks believable is the Carnosaur. But even then, it just doesn't look right to me. Although I have seen both IG and SoB mounted on Cold Ones, and they looked good. fivepointedstar
I thought the same thing about a year ago for my Blood Dragon's army but have since desided not to because they are undersized, and it doesn't look right for a marine in PA riding a Cold One. unless there scout bikers, then it looks more believeable. Snejk
Ahh, ok. I was so hoping it would look good and that the size would be ok. But I imagine Ig mounted on them looks good. What about the new Chaos Knights horses? They look pretty big. fivepointedstar
the closest thing you could do is the chaos knight legs fitted to a PA armor body, and arms to get the right leg shape. But on anything other than a bike, or Carnosaur there out of element. Now there are other beasts you could use for lords/ sorcerors and such like a D elf Hydra now that would be fitting for a AL lord. Look up GW in the storms of magic section for mounts. Anything bigger than a standard bike will work. Warsmith Aznable
I am doing this with a squad in my Chaos Marine warband. Let me find the appropriate pics... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j91/montismo/blood-rider-2-front.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j91/montismo/blood-rider-2-rear.jpg These are a couple from this post in my WIP thread. If I had to do it again I might not do the "bunny ears" since they don't do the size ratio any favors, but I like my dudes and think they look much better painted (no good pictures of that). Doing the Chaos Knight legs is a must, I think. The elf legs they come with are way too small (tried it with bad results), and cutting up regular legs to convert is way too much work for something that ends up not looking better than the Chaos Knight option (also tried it with bad results using a Scout Marine model). I'm still modeling the weapons, but I've done some prototype bolter-glaive type things to represent the twin-linked bolters and the ccw. Another route is to assume a breath weapon. Why not? Twin-linked bolters or storm bolters stolen from Terminators or the Force Commander box (or wherever) can be the twin-linked bolters, or you can make them by filing the sides of two bolt pistols flat and gluing them together. You can do that with regular bolters too, but they end up being rather large when the twin-linked bolt pistols looks better. Crazy adrenal glands is exactly how I fluff their turbo-boost. Another thing I've seen done to good effect is to skip just using the Chaos Knight legs, and use the Chaos Knight horses as well. They probably scale a bit better than the Cold Ones. Hemal
The new Cold Ones are a tad spindly, the older "Godzilla" Cold ones look a little better in my view, although difficult to imagine any biped smaller than around 2 tonnes in weight bearing the additional weight of a marine. As for the TL bolters - whiy not have them pivot mounted on the backpack, firing via mind impulse?
