RobPhoboS
I'm going to buy some Vellejo pigments tomorrow probably, however I've not seen a way of making sure it doesn't get brushed/knocked off. How do you guys make sure its fixed to the model nicely ? I was going to use isopropyl alcohol to brush it on (I think I've seen a few people using that on YT). IdOfEntity
Here's what I'd do: 1) Use a true primer, not just some white spray paint. 2) Dullcoat. It holds pigments as well as paint, in my experience. Honda
Regular old hairspray is what you are looking for. That's what we used in art classes to fix charcoal to paper, and as it turns out, it works just fine for this purpose. Now having said that, if you want to mix up the pigment into a fluid and brush on, I have done the following: 1. Mixed my pigment into Futures and then brushed it on. Use this technique when you want the dust in the cracks/shadows effect. 2. Mix with rubbing alchohol and paint on. In either case spray with a sealant when you are done. ron
RobPhoboS: I've done a little bit of experimenting with powders and fixing them in place. Enough that I ended up doing a three part series on my blog about what I figured out (to include picture examples of all my attempts). Here's the link to the series, it might help you with making a decision.
