Gornall
I have actually had a lot of success with deepstriking a single, naked DK in my 1500 army. At 130 points, it is still pretty killy and durable for the price. I found that by deepstriking it in later in the game, I have had a chance to neutralize a lot of the AP1/2 shooting, which greatly helps its survivability. I basically just use it to bat cleanup or to act as a very durable scoring (Grand Strategy) unit. I know this is just my personal experience, but I have found that for the costs of the upgrades I could almost buy another DK. RedemptionNL
Hammerhand is no guarantee, and S10 does have legitimate Instant Death "fear factor" against most characters (which are usually very killy) and other elite units that can bring a lot of pain but are T 4-5 (e.g., Thunderwolf Cavalry) without also requiring you to save your psychic test for casting "force weapon" instead of hammerhand. Being able to wound MCs on 2s instead of 3s is also quite beneficial. Also note that because the Dreadknight doesn't have the Brotherhood of Psykers rule, he can inflict Instant Death with only 1 unsaved wound with the use of his force weapon, while a S10 Daemon hammer inflicts Instant Death against T5 and lower with every unsaved wound. So against units of multi-wound T4 or T5 models like Paladins, Nobs or Thunderwolf Cavalry, the Daemon hammer is better as well. Reclusiarch Darius
'Brotherhood' simply refers to the squad always testing on their Leadership or the Justicar/Flame Knights Leadership, not that of any attached IC. Nemesis force weapons, when activated by a psychic test, inflict Instant Death with every unsaved wound they inflict. You take the test after you inflict the first unsaved wound. For a Dreadknight, as he's a lone model, it wouldn't matter as all his wounds are inflicted simultaneously. So no, greatsword is still better. henrywalker
I find it interesting that throughout this post almost every option has had someone say it is crap and never worth it while someone else says it is a must take. i guess that a lot of these things depend upon the style of play. Gentlemanloser
I don't remember reading someone saying the Heavy Psycannon is good, let alone a must have. :D There is multiple support for the Heavy Incinerator, and a mixed bag about Greatsword, Hammer, or Fists. The Personal Teleporter is a great choice, it's just expensive, which puts some folk off. And the PT really depends on your list. A general consensus on NDK loadouts is probably; If you don't have the points, you can run them naked. But; The Heavy Incinerator is *really* worth taking. If you have any more points left and your list supports it, take the PT. And if you have more points left, you could consider a Melee Upgrade, with the Greatsword being the better of the three options. No, by RAW, force weapons of non-Brotherhood of Psykers units don't activate on all wounds, but there's plenty of threads on that subject already. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244472-dreadknight-help/page/2/#findComment-2961630 Share on other sites

Pretty darn close to the way I rate things myself. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244472-dreadknight-help/page/2/#findComment-2962588 Share on other sites
