Hiro_Protagonist's LPC 2012

Recommended Posts

And so it begins!

Ten Chaos Terminators with 2 Reaper Autocannons, 2 Powerfists, Icon Bearer. As they are the older metal models I'll be trying to "upsize" them to make them more like the newer plastics. Mostly it'll mean widening the arm positions an moving them up to the larger bases (I'll stack the old base on top to increase their height).

They're final paint job will be different from what a few of them have now.

Upgrading the size of the old Termies is one thing. Changing thier base size is another. Don't go changing to the bigger size if you can help it. The risk of a Teleportation Mishap decreases signifigantly if they can get crowded together better with thier smaller bases. Give them the newer weapons and newer arms, but don't change thier bases.

Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for the warning, but I'm using this squad more as a mobile firebase and won't be deepstriking in most cases.

All ten have been given the "widening" treatment and one is on his larger base now (hopefully the others will follow tonight).

Here are some comparison shots with that plastic terminator that came with my WD (however many issues ago).

I think it works. The expanded arms give it more "presence" and the double stacked base gives the height. As the Chaos Terminators are "top heavy" with regards to detail I think it will help to draw the eye up, and away from the fact that he's on a hill. Thoughts?

Here's my next update! All ten are now assembled (minus the Icon Bearer's Icon) and have been "expanded" and mounted on their raised bases.

Next I'll move on to priming and painting. I'll warn you all in advance, my painting probably won't hold up under these zoomed in photos, but I'll try.

I also haven't decided which of the "standard" terminators is going to carry the Icon. It's going to be a back mounted flag with various items dangling from chains (I've got spare parts from my Empire Flagellants box). Anybody got a preference?

Thanks for looking.

Trim completed on all 10 Terminators!

Eyes are done, Tusks/Horns still need a wash.

Next up, the weapons (both ranged and CC)!

Thanks for looking!

A special thanks to the THREE PEOPLE who have left comments! :D

As a side note I've figured out why my pictures were blurry on the right side in previous posts. My son had left fingerprints on the lense after "cleaning" it.

  • 2 weeks later...

As they say, "80% of the work takes 50% of the time, and the final 20% also takes 50% of the time." :P

5 of the squad...

...and the other 5.

As requested, here's a close-up of the final tusks.

gallery_57061_6801_140961.jpg

I wanted the tusks to look as though they are still alive and growing from the armour as opposed to being decorations aquired elsewhere.

I used a base-coat of skull white, then a double wash of Gryphon Sepia (drying in-between), and then a drybrush of 7:3 white:grey.

And here's a look at the markings going on the right shoulder. It's a symbol of protection from The Necronomicon.

Once again, thanks for viewing! B)

As a side note, if anyone has any thoughts you'd best post them soon, cause I'm not re-painting once the gloss goes on! ;)
