Jimmy Carmine
I did something similar but found the metal base to be just to small to fit snuggly without gluing. Have you thought about mounting it on a Razorback turret base. This also allows you to leave it unglued so you can swap turrets out for other razorback turrets. http://jim028.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Whirlwind.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-2966398 Share on other sites

Sadly I do not have the Razorback base piece for that so I can't, I'm thinking about plasticarding a ring around the base of the metal part to give it a bit more bulk and fit nicely in the hole. I might switch the turret to be laced in the centre as well as the model is rather rear heavy. Also, that's a good amount of marines being built behind Carmine! ^_^ Who're they going to be painted up as? And respect for the Help For Heroes band. :) Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-2966407 Share on other sites

Moving to the centre is probably for the best, it is a very rear heavy model. As for the colours, it was going to be part of a DIY Imperial Fists Successor I was tinkering with (hence the red basecoat guy in the photo), but now that I'm thinking doing of my LPC Vow as Ultramarines it may well find itself seconded to the 3rd Company. I might stick in some scrap metal pieces I've got in the front to balance it out if I go with the classic look as I've not glued the top on yet, but if that fails I'll use the centred option. Noooo do Imperial Fist successors! Be a brother chapter to these guys. ;) :tu: Looking forward to seeing your work on your LPC vow then. :eek Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-2966423 Share on other sites
Jimmy Carmine
I'll probably go back to my Storm Knights when I've nailed down my V1.0 of the fluff. Brother Cambrius
Update time after some time away from the paints! I'm very nearly done finishing one vehicle for my new army, which will complete one part of my LPC challenge. I won this Vindicator 2 years ago and it's been waiting to be painted up at some point from the Shadow Grey basecoat it came to me in, thus I picked it to be a spearhead for the Vanquishers. I haven't added a hatch yet to the top as I will be making that interchangeable so I can add a HK missile or a storm bolter to the tank. Maybe even Chronus should I ever one day decide to get him for my army. Thus here's how it looked yesterday after applying the first few layers of paint: And here it is after some further details and cleaning up's been done: I have some metal moulded Fist symbols that will be dispatched to me in a week or so, and IU'll be adding one of the large ones onto the blank metal door, as well as one on the front of the siege shield if I can get it to fit. The current moulded symbol present is form the Drop Pod kit, the other 3 Fist symbols are being put on my other vehicles for the Vanquishers, including 2 that are already on the Whirlwind I've built. (pics of that coming soon. <_<) I will also be adding a nameplate to the Vindi, but I cannot think of a good name to choose for it. I'm open to any suggestions off of anyone here for a name. Just for extra info to help, the chapter as descendants of the Crimson Fists and their homeplanet is Deinas. More coming soon and thanks for looking! Reyner
Looking good Cambrius! I like the purple, looks good on marines. You should name the Vindicator "Purifier". ;) Let's see the Whirlwind! B) Let's see the Whirlwind! Emperor's Teeth and toenails the Purinator crusade's moved on from naming Chapters?! :P Whirlwind pics coming soon, although not much has changed apart from painting one part of the interior...need to find out where I can spray on campus safely and not be escorted away by the security officers for "potentially vandalising" with my Chaos Black spray can. ^_^ More coming soon! Brother Cambrius
You should name it "The Purple People Eater". :P As great as that is, it doesn't roll off the tongue to well... Some further updates to show my progress, as oyu can see I've been working hard. :P Here's a piece of the interior of the Whirlwind that's slowly being worked on, I may clean up the scanner at some point as the lines are a tad bit chunky: And finally, I present the current progress of what will eventually become my counts as Lysander for my force. It's the classic metal Terminator Captain, but I pilfered his sword for another project and thus I've been at a loss at what to do with the model until I tried my first forage into plasticarding and thus the new shiny shield was made and I decided to GS a normal thunder hammer to make it look a bit more chunky so it stands out a little better form the crowd. I'm waiting for some bitz to come in the post, which'll include a moulded fist to go in the shield so it's not so plain. Thus here is Brother Captain Tarren: That's all for now! Brother Cambrius
Another Marine painted! Let there be much celebration! I'm thinking of adjusting my colour scheme for these guys a bit, by having their entire arms a silvery chainmail instead of just the fists. I feel it helps them stand out a bit more on the tabletop and won't be called Hawk Lords at first glance or Emperor's Children (woe betide whoever refers to them as that in my presence ). Thus we have Brother Sergeant Araen, leader of the 3rd Squad, Fourth Company, under the command of Captain Brenen: Sergeant's helms are the same purple as other parts of the Vanquishers' armour, instead of the traditional silver. Veterans (when I get around to making them) will have the codex White helms. Comments as always are welcomed! Do you think I should continue with my idea above, or stick to them only having silver fists? I've also based my other Vanquisher models, they're just waiting to be sprayed when the weather turns for the better here in Cymru. :) Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-2976482 Share on other sites
Razblood
I like what I'm seeing  On thing I would alter is the eye colour, as at the mo it matches up with the pauldron trim way too much  Or you could use some Green/Dark Green Ink on them to darken and give them a bit of glaze, which would distinguish them nicely. Keep it going :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-2976490 Share on other sites

It's done the trick quite nicely now. ;) Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-2976528 Share on other sites

Brother Cambrius
UPDATE! I have completed one part of my vow now! After working on it for ~18 cumulative hours and receiving the bitz I needed, I am proud to show my completed Vindicator tank! I have also finished the turret piece that will be added onto my Whirlwind, which is going to be a bonus vehicle for the LPC. I'm really happy with how this turned out eventually. :P I've also started doing a second Tactical Marine test model using the silver arms colour scheme as opposed to the previous silver fists look, all I need to do now is wait for the shoulderpads to come in the post eventually and add some final details and he'll be done too. I'll be painting more marines soon now that they've been basecoated black. It'll be the first time I've done batch painting in ages. :D Comments as always welcomed! Brother Cambrius
UPDATE! After some time away form the paintpots due to Uni work, I'm now back again and getting close to finishing my LPC vow. First of all, I have my new shiny centre piece model, which is a Counts As of Pedro Kantor. I used the body of the 25th Anniversary Model and the Kantor model bitz I bought off of Araziel back in February. so thus I now have completed my HQ part of the vow, being Chapter Master Coras Brenen of the Vanquishers! So before painting: And here now fully painted! So now all I have left to complete is my two Tactical Squads, of which one is now nearly fully painted and the other halfway there. I'll put up some pics of them later, along with some Sternguard if I can finish them before the LPC ends this month. Comments as always welcomed. : Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-3019248 Share on other sites

Brother Cambrius
Good to see you are still going at it with these guys, nice use of the 25th Anniversary marine he works well with Kantor's storm bolter! Thanks Reyner! Yep I'm still working on these guys and will continue to do so. They are my new army after all and will be using them in a Doubles tournament in future. I just happened to have both of the models in fornt of me on my desk and literally put 2 and 2 together. Worked a treat. :D Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-3019264 Share on other sites

Brother Cambrius
Well on the final day, I am proud to say I have completed my vow as shown below, 2 Tactical Squads, a Vehicle and a Commander completed! I'll be uploading some better shots in an HoH thread when I've settled back home as I'm leaving Uni tomorrow for Easter Break. Now to take down my signature of shame I have worn in penance for a full year for failing last year. :woot: Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244553-vanquishers-diy-chapter/page/2/#findComment-3028554 Share on other sites
Brother Cambrius
Well after some rest and working on other bits and pieces, I'm returning to my Vanquishers and have continued work on a number of the miniatures featured before and new ones incoming soon. After a couple of hours work painting, I'm now very happy indeed with my Lysander counts as I've put together. The model will be counting as my Vanquishers' First Captain, known as the High Captain. Building him from the now 10+ year old Terminator Captain model, I built a shield using plasticard and added a few bits with GS and others parts, then using the normal Termie Thunder Hammer, I Green Stuffed it up to make it more beefy. I'll be improving it in future so it's not so bare. Thus, here is High Captain Tarran almost complete, only needing a shoulderpad and some hammer work before being fully finished: I intend to obtain a FW Imperial Fist Shoulder Pad for his right arm and I'll be grabbing some Drop Pod aquilla door symbols to cover the hammer and give it a much more ornate look (and to hide my first attempt as GSing properly.) More to come soon! Including my Sternguard and also a Librarian and Chaplain.
