my sw ts army

A friend of mine is currently starting with a SW army.

The problem he has (and so do I) is getting the shoulder pads in a smooth yellow colour. If you take the Citadel Golden Yellow, it's either getting ugly if you use no water to thin it....or it's getting very runny with a thinner and the paint will not dry on properly.

Could you perhaps give some tips on how you did your shoulder pads?? And some more close up pictures of your marines would be welcome as well!

Thanks!

Get some Iyanden Darksun foundation paint and use that before the golden yellow, it's much more opaque and will give a good solid colour even over black in 2 thin coats.

trying to add the last images but guess i have too many pics:)...

so not 100% done painting but have some life issues keeping it at a over table top level;)

The bases are from backtobasix in australia, forge world parts, scribor shoulderpads on a few doods, all GW metal ragnars co shoulder pads, LR conversion for the vindi as every wolf army needs a russ:), mix of chaos warrior gs'd legs for the blood claws and 1 squad of long fangs, doghouse/synapse true scale tuts for the rest of the army. Each head is different but for 2 long fangs with HB...figured a pair of bros weilding some boomstick was ok:) Included a wolf guard in power armour with a PF and combiflamer to sit with one of the long fang packs to switch out the wolf guard in termi armor with either assault cannon or cyclone (depending on opponent as you can only field 1 HW per 5 wolf guard)...the only non converted item in the army is the typhoon and thats cause I received it in a trade and it was already assembled n primedI gained a new appreciation for ebay, my bits box and the fellas a my LGS and their collections as I made my way through the construction of this army...

anyways... enjoy n let me know what you think...

colors are slightly muted as I took the pics with some sunlight and under CFL's...
