LPC 2012 - Captain Semper's vow

Again guys, thx for the support. I realized what was wrong: the primer was humbrol ENAMEL satin black. The highlight was done with GW acrylics and the results was meh at best... Furthermore I got the feeling that the primer actually "sealed" the absorption properties of the plastic resulting to the highlighting not following the line drawn by the brush but sort of spilling all over... Lastly the contrast between the black and the highlighting became more vivid than intended, and corrections were also problematic as the acrylic blacks show over the enamel black. To put it simply: I was not prepared for enamel undercoat.

Now given the oath, I'll finish it (I'm practically there- tonight it's finished) but I'm soooo sad - I had high hopes for it!

@egon1six: be careful of what you wish for! :)

Sorry to hear about your enamel messed up, I did similar on my old LRs, they are kaput, yours is still fine mate.

Great to hear about you nearly finishing your vow, AWESOME!! especially with you being so supportive and encouraging to the others here in the DA.

My vow is on hold for a week as I'm away with work, I just hope I will find time next week to move forward.

Awesomesauce

If you hate it so much throw it in a bucket of detol(the brown stuff). After a couple of days it will be aok.I bought a dark angels tactical squad for e-bay(the old box with the metal sarge if anyone remembers)that was badly paint.I did buy them in the hopes of stripping the sarge but using the method above i managed to save them all. After i finish the oath i intend to repaint them.

But:That thing looks too good so keep it!5-6 Screaming guys who tell you its good cant be wrong!

Abysmal quality of pics. Maybe for the best. I'll try for better takes in the weekend.

To have a single iota of the paiting skill you possess.. I think is a valid wish!

;) seriously - not that good, certainly not up close.

Awesome job, Semper!

But truthfully, you shouldn't beat yourself up too much. It looks good and you do the legion proud. Besides, it's really nice to see a completed drop pod. I have never met (in person) a single Space Marine player with a Drop Pod completely finished.

btw, I really love those company markings! Did you free hand them?

@ Isiah: thx mate. Red is all the Consecrators have! :D Glad you liked.

@ PR_Luzbelito: Well, first post! Welcome to the Rock! Look fwd to see your work too! I hope you enjoy it here. ;)

So just to keep the pace, here starts the Attack Bike:

The Deimos Rhino has yet to arrive - so I'll keep going with what I have readily available.

@ Isiah: thx mate. Red is all the Consecrators have! <_< Glad you liked.

They do have yellow eye lenses which could be used as a spot color. But I am not complaining since you do have a pod dripping with awesome sauce! I think Cell 42 opened up because of that cheesy comment.

So the FAQ 1.2 in nerfing RW... ;) Still no biggie, I think this was done in light of the 6th so it might tie well with other (as yet unknown ) stuff.

So 1st update of my attack bike, put together and having some metalics on:

Attack bike completed! now to the normal bikes - the vow is for three of them...

IMPORTANT QUESTION: What to do about basing? Thinking of ellipse 120mm (something like the Valkyrie base) but is it appropriate? any suggestions?

And the vow so far:

Thx guys,

@ Stobz: the 60mm base is the Dreadnought base right? Looks bit too small to me... But I hear your argument on practicality... I'll meditate on it.

@ Brother Immolator: they do when placed next to ordinary bikes that have bases. Otherwise they look weird and smallish and unfinished and... Well you get the point. ;)

Edit: with the danger of destroying anything that Brother Immolator holds sacred I have to declare that Mk6 is my least favorite armor to paint and look at in general! Long live Mk5!

I have some bikes ready (not part of the vow though) for my Consecrators army (link in the sig).

Well, here start the bikes: :tu:

EDIT: I plan to build all three in parallel!

You know what? I'm a fan of the "solid slug" weapons (to use Necromunda terminology) vs. the "energy" weapons... One cannot ignore the usefulness of the latter (I include Multi-Melta in this category) but they look kind of... dunno, elegant? Too percise, too "one shot so make it count"... So I took the opportunity to make a real Marine's weapon to equip the attack bike! (not to worry I kept the Multi-Melta in tact just in case ;) )

So I give you the Semper pattern Turbo Slugger Mk1: :D
