Midnightmare
Welcome to the Eaters of the Flesh! In answer to your question then yes it IS a nightmare to paint lol. But I'm a sucker for punishment so mine are painted......well mostly. I have green stuffed a couple of symbols to the shoulder pads and plan on doing a press-mould for my independent characters so you could always go down that route? If you are set on transfers, take a look in the painting/modelling forum under 'Ye Olde Decal Project' and make your own as the Flesh Eaters are there. I would post a link but I'm on my phone sorry (so excuse the spelling too......)
daismith906
Cheers for the reply. How hard is it too paint? Do you have some pics of your minis at all? Didnt have much luck when i tried to make my own transfers at all so not to keen on going down that route.
CastellanDeMolay
Not tried it myself but something like this should be relatively simple: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v15/BOMBkangaroo/flesheaters.png Start with the line that will be the teeth. Then using the tip of the brush add triangles of the background colour to form the jagged teeth. Then paint the outside line around it.

Midnightmare
tbh it is not too difficult to paint when compared to the BA symbol. I haven't got any proper photo's of my mini's yet, I have just took this with my phone but it hasn't come out too well:- http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/IMAG0110.jpg The Priest in the middle is green-stuffed which I may emulate on other IC's while the two marines (not very well focused though, sorry) are free hand. I paint 'em by painting a pentagon in Fortress Grey first, then painting the teeth in Mechrite Red. Once dry its paint Skull White over the grey areas. Finally I 'chip in' with the red to give the illusion of chipped paint and add scratches to suit. The reason I paint the teeth on the grey before adding white is that I found they were ending up too bright when compared to the rest of the armour it is painted on. I do plan on starting a new WiP log this week when I charge my camera so keep your eyes peeled :)
daismith906
That's awesome thanks for the tips. Another question if you don't mind, how do you paint your red armour to make it different than the blood angels?
Midnightmare
Hey, no worries. I use a pretty straight up red of Mechrite Red over a Scorched Brown base, highlighted with Blood Red then Blazing Orange on the very edges of certain parts of the armour. I use the Scorched Brown to be left showing in the recesses. Not too dark a red, not too bright as I'm following the original RT scheme:- http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/44.jpg
daismith906
Again thanks very much. Just read the bloood angles book "Red Tide" and its says that the Flesh eaters armour is black, does anyone know what the scheme is at all??
Xenith
In the rouge trader source above, the flesh tearers have black armour. They have since become red gore and black. The background in the Swallow books is, ironically, hard to swallow.
fivepointedstar
You could also use these with a blood drop in the middle. There used to be a website from one of the Mods here called www.flesheaters.net, but I could not find it, it may be down. I tried to find links but all I could find are the one he posted on coolminiornot.com under flesh eaters. try that to see an alt color and symbol. or use the pad on GW to make it easy. Also Chaplain Hiltraud has some alt FE colors
daismith906
Awesome thanks for the links. Much appreciated. Will most likely use the Colours Chaplain Hiltraud has used, makes them stand out more compared to normal Blood Angels. Never seen those WE pads before Cheers Dai
