Golf33
... I wasn't going to use them as Neophytes, without a bit of work. 1st was fixing the heads. The 'Iceman' haircuts might have been cool when Top Gun came out, but they are hardly in character for BTs. So all the models got a haircut, back to stubble or at least a crew cut. Next, a couple of Neophytes either grew a nice middle-ages bowl haircut or a tonsure - all the warrior monks these days are wearing those. Since we're big on heraldry (our own, rather than the Aquila) and Neophytes want to be just like Initiates when they grow up, we needed some space to paint said heraldry. That means at least half a surcoat per Neophyte! This meant shaving off the chestplate Aquila and putting some greenstuff on instead. I have tried to match the folds to the poses as far as possible. The rest of the half-surcoat was also greenstuffed, the best way turned out to be rolling out a flat sheet of the stuff bigger than what was needed, letting it cure most of the way then fitting it to the legs and belt with a bit of overlap all around. Once fully cured I could trim down the edges to the correct size and shape and then add folds by putting on more greenstuff. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7020/6604769763_e86cdd09b9_o.jpg In a month or so I should be able to start on some more - next time I'll take some work-in-progress shots to illustrate the process. philsminions
Those look fantastic brother! I have yet to delve into playing with green stuff...might be a good time to purchase some and play around with it. Please keep us updated as they're finished...love to see the final product. Great work, very natural! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244928-neophytes-from-space-marine-scouts/#findComment-2961488 Share on other sites
Trignama
Is working with GS difficult? Im assuming you have some sort of talent to do it. Firepower
Well...with my neopthytes, I simply put an SM helmet on top of the scout model and used basic assault arms. If I could pull off this sort of GS work convincingly (and believe me, I've tried) I would do this in a heartbeat. Everything seems to be off to a stellar start to me. twofour878
Wow those are exactly the kind of thing I wanted to do to my neophytes but lacked the confidence to do for now. I tried putting tabards on a couple spare terminator bodies I had lying around and it went horribly wrong (luckily I had some gaps that needed filling so the GS didn't go to waste). Nice job. T14
Looking good. :P I have a similar dilemma, except I can find no redeeming feature in the scout models at all. I will in all likelyhood end up using cenobyte servitor models instead (they are technically still neophytes, even if their training has somewhat ended). This will give me the opportunity to field all the devotional "critters" that seem to be following our dark knights wherever they go. -T14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244928-neophytes-from-space-marine-scouts/#findComment-2962447 Share on other sites
Eberious
They look good, might add some to mine but I'm in the mind frame of they havent earned the right to wear tabards yet. Plus the Chapter keeps taylor servitors only make sizes to fit power armour. I found some heads from WHF (mainly Empire) really work with neos.
