Mercy 0f Spades
Howdy B&C! Seeing as how I'm still relatively new to the glorious Dark Angels, I thought it only right and proper to inquire how the majority of our legion prefer to field their vets. What purpose do your vets fulfill on the field of battle? Anything that you'd particularly stay away from? How about your favorite transport for them? Sincerely The Guy who just accused your men of wearing women's clothing. company veteran
i use mine in lieu of a command squad as i feel their options are better. all power weapons and stormshields in a rhino with my hq. it looks pretty badass... but it sure aint cheap! That's cool. I agree that their options are nice. I prefer mine with lots of combi and a couple of stormshields in a razorback. I haven't tried attaching my HQ to them (seeing as how my Company Master is something of a defensive choice for me) but maybe I'll try it out? I prefer to run them in a supporting role to my Deathwing. So will all those melee weapons and invu saves I take it you use them offensively? Brother dean
Power swords (3), Chainsword, Bolters and a Melta. It's fun to take down a Termi squad (non SS) with them in one turn.... then back into the LRC... I also have a plan for a "Sternguard" squad with Storm bolters in a pod... Jehoel
Well first off, the Dark Angel's veteran company uses TDA, so that is how I run them. But I think you mean company veterans. Those I don't use yet, since I only have a counts as Deathwing force built and am working on my counts as Ravenwing force. march10k
I don't use them... other options are more points-efficient at any task you can name...plus, I'm collecting an entire battle company, and there's no place in the force org for such a squad...it's six tactical, two assault, and two dev squads...even a command squad is questionable, although I'd not say it doesn't fit. I suppose you could take a vet squad and just put "first squad" markings on them, though...saying that, fluff-wise, they're a tactical squad, but rules-wise, they're vets? Interrogator Stobz
Without trying to be too pedantic March10k, but Company Vets replace Tactical squads in the Force Org. That's up to six places for Vet Sqds in each Battle Company, marked one to six with aslt and dev sqds unchanged at numbers seven to ten. OT: I have two 10 man Vet Squads; One with mostly CC weapons(one melta)), they ride in a Rhino. The other squad is in the process of being fitted out like a SternGuard squad with specials and combi's, they also ride in a Rhino.(I am magnetising multimelta and a Hvy Bolter options for them too, because they look cool) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244988-how-do-you-field-your-veteran-company/#findComment-2962966 Share on other sites
Vazzy
i generally use them as a cool looking group Tactical marines, and don't use them as Vets. BUT, they are kitted out heavily on some, including at least 3 PW, 1 melta, and a flamer. but these options are magnetised/glued so they can easily be converted. Off Topic: Did you get my PM? Mercy 0f Spades
Off Topic: Did you get my PM? Oops! Sorry, I forgot to respond but sorry, sir, I promised my wife that I'd take a break from playing 40k for the month of January. Though I'll check with our other club members and see if they're game.
